This + Red Dead Redemption =
I hope the PC version is optimized better than Saints Row 2 was, driving was terrible.
Fuck sakes I can't afford either of them and I'm about to lose access to mah xbox for 6 months.
Not sure which I want more. Both have epic, underused settings.

Seems like GTA. But, I never played Mafia so it might be worth a try. Will there be a demo?
I think I jizzed in my pants a little.

wtf was that?
It looked very cartoonish.

^Obvious troll is obvious.
I'm serious.
Mafia I had a decent gfx engine for it's time, with bloom effects and realistic car damage.
That trailer looks like they haven't even tried to upgrade the gfx that much at all.

Your memory must be fuzzy, because I see quite an improvement over what is still a visually-impressive game.
Cartoonish? lol
Cartoonish? lol
Cant watch that video, but if its anything like old ones then yes, the shading looks very flat in the game giving a cartoon feel to it.
Try this version:
Demo's out today
fairly sick
fairly sick
There are also Unlimited Time patchers around.

Gotta try the demo in a bit. That preview is insane. This game might end up beating ME2 for my GOTY so far.

Trying demo...
Satisfying experience.
I was upset with the stupid "here's 10 minutes of play" they throw at you, though. More and more I've seen demos do the time limit instead of allowing you unlimited time in a limited space.
lol at the "Vito! Over Here!" bit.Poseidon wrote:

"Niko! My cousin!"
what a tease, looking like a good game
It works for me, but then I've already ordered the thing.DesertFox- wrote:

On closer inspection, the music is looking good. Recognized a few of the songs just on the radio and walked into the diner to Buddy Holly's "Not Fade Away". I like all the customization, too, but I'm a sucker for dressing your character in fine suits.
EDIT: And Eddie Cochran "Summertime Blues". Rock and roll, bitches (they said that in the '50s)!

i like that a .45 to the chest takes people down
There's a simple trick you can use to lock the time at 9:59 and explore as long as you want, without downloading a patch from some sketchy website.

Worked like a charm for me.Download HxD (Free Hex Editor) from here: http://mh-nexus.de/en/hxd/ Install and open HxD.
Press "Open file"
Browse to Folder Steam\steamapps\common\mafia ii - public demo\pc and open mafia2.exe
You will see a lot of digits and letters if all went good.
Search on the left for 000F5380
Find D9 56 4C within that line and edit this to 90 90 90
Save file.
Open mafia2.exe and enjoy Mafia 2 demo without the 10 minute gameplay limit!
Note: Make sure you always make a backup of mafia2.exe incase you do something wrong!

Quite a useful tip, that. I got to stickup every restaurant/bar and also hear some more great music and referenced songs from The Godfather and Goodfellas, which I found neat. Although, according to the web site the game takes place from '45-'57 and some of these rock and roll songs are anachronistic and most are only at the upper end of that scale (not that I'm complaining).
I do find it strange to be all mafia-like in the '50s though, when it's really more of a '30s thing, specifically the 1928 Thompson, but then again they seem to be using The Godfather as their inspiration and that all took place after the war.
