Would extra money help you buy happiness to make up for your dissatisfaction with your job?

Would having to scrimp and save just to pay the bills and keep on barely getting by not matter to you because you've already got plenty of satisfaction from your job?

You can't have your cake and eat it, too. (At least not in this poll)

Well option 2 is sorta like the situation I'm in at the moment, except it's more extreme, I have no job and have no money. So I'm enjoying not working, but have no money.. I'd love to have a job, even one I hated. So I picked option 1.

I picked be "poor", but have a job you love.  I assume you put poor in quotes because you mean...getting by without extra cash to play with...
Doing what you love is pretty important and as long as you are not going without the essentials...no reason taking up a spot in a job that somebody else might love...

Yep, exactly what I meant. I figured it might skew the results to the other option since people would have to do whatever it takes to get by.

Pessimistic/Bizarro Poll: Would you rather have no job to worry you, but also meant that you'd have no money? Or would you rather have a job you really really hate and drives you insane, but at least you'd have a small amount of money (still not nearly enough to make the suffering worth it)?
I'd love to be the first option. But right now I'm in the second I suppose there is a simple solution though: quit.

There is also the family factor...are you the only one that is affected by your choice?...If you have people depending on you then it makes the decision harder.

Good money ---> ability to pursue other hobbies outside of work.

No, I'd much rather have a job. Just something to do during the day, and some money is better than none.

You could have a job you loved and have a wonderful family, but couldn't take any trips or vacations with them, rarely a night out to dinner. But it wouldn't matter because you'd be happy 24/7 right?

Or you could have 8 hours of hell a day (aside from weekends), but have loads of money to do fun stuff with them, and go on lots of vacations and trips to exotic places. Would that extra fun stuff be worth the suffering?

This is my thinking, for the most part. Realistically I'd like to be somewhere in the middle of course.

I like my current half-time job. Do something I love and get paid a lot for it.

I picked the second option though, because I do not believe money can buy happiness. It depends on so many factors though, so that's not a very good statement. Lets just say I don't think 8 hours of a shit job would be compensated with the few hours off with your family, etc.

For example, I don't think I would be able to put up with working with a ton of assholes and be able to enjoy my free time. In the back of my mind I would know I had to go back.

How about a mix of both. Get a job I neither like nor hate, and I get the middle ground of money.

Well yeah, that's ideal. But for the purposes of this poll, you have to choose an extreme. Otherwise it's not interesting

I'd be more than willing to get by quietly on a job with poor pay but love it. I know from seeing how unhappy my dad has been that it's not good for you to have a job you hate. And he's had his fair share of them. Obviously, like any other person I'd love a job that is enjoyable and pays well.

mt, i was in your position about 5 weeks ago. Quit my job because the manager's were cunts, the pay wasn't great, and I was cut right down to doing only 9 hours a week. I found out off a friend I would earn more money on benefits (not that that is what I'm doing). I quit, and I'm now doing a few days here and there in a job I don't love, but it aint bad, and the pay is better so..

Hooking pays well, don't think I'd like it though.
