Indeed. Not actually listening to that album, though.

Most likely going to see them in November, they're playing at a tiny venue near uni. Should be good.

Yeah I've been there quite a few times over the past couple of years. They really need to fix their aircon though, it's hotter than Mt Doom in there. Southampton has quite a few small music venues, 'tis good.

So New Zealand had its first combat death in eight years today with the death of Lieutenant Tim O'Donnell in Afghanistan. It's quite weird, I met him briefly while I was doing Basic. A really nice, intelligent, dedicated guy. It's amazing how the whole country has suddenly just stopped over his death and I know that we're only a country of 4.5 million people which doesn't have a whole lot going on militarily so events like this do stand out but it kind of makes me wonder why more isn't done for the soldiers who die in combat from other countries, namely the United States. I mean I remember when the press was restricted from filming American caskets coming back from Iraq but even so it's not like the American media stops in regerd to one soldier's death, or even a hundred, be it because of not wanting a public outcry or to keep a politician from having to feild difficult questions. For whatever reason it's a real shame.

In the UK its more that we've become accustomed to deaths of soldiers in Iraq (not so much now) and Afghanistan.

When they first invaded and the first soldiers died there was a big shock, as the war was just hitting home. But now the casualties are so high that it's "3 more" etc, it is sad though, especially when you see in the news about someone who grew up around where you did, dieing in Afghanistan.

So I just started school again after the vacation hoping it'd end my boredom streak... It didn't and now I'm wondering what to do...

Concidering buying SCII despite my previous horrible RTS experiences online...
Aquireing kick-ass and firefly+serenity for hour-killing...

Any suggestions?

That's the thing eh, becoming accustomed to it. I work with Australian media and they had six casualties last month and where the first two were both terrible tragedies and were treated as such, the three after that, (who were killed all at once in a chopper crash,) were treated more as a number, the biggest story not being the deaths so much as the crash. The sixth guy I can't remember much media coverage about at all.

Such is life I guess.
