dont get me wrong i get why mods are useful on a public, busy and active forum. lots of people that don't know each other exchanging opinions, often with insults and impolite behaviour. but bf2s has been in a state of community 'lock-in' for the last year, at least. it's the same people coming back and interacting with the same other people. we all know one another; we all know what to expect. you know what sort of post, opinion and attitude you're getting from 'mr. x', 'mrs. y' and 'cunt z'. any butt-hurt or forum policing scenarios went out the window about 2 years ago.

all the moderators stand to do nowadays is sort out the petty arguments and bitch-fests between regular members that know each other and have locked horns together 100's of times in the past. it's like being the referee in a boxing-match between 2 midgets with down's syndrome, each trying to hit each other with shit-covered loo-roll. waste of time job... again, imho.

tl;dr: stop giving more people the 'ban' button because i don't particularly think any 'bans' have been necessary here for a long time. we all know the drill and we all know one another. give it a rest trying to feel like some grand arbiting judge.

The idea is that new mods will be able to help keep things clean and do things that the members want.

Random examples: Cleaning topics of derailment, sticky/unsticky, updating lists, clearing up spam

So generally making things nicer.

I'm not here to ban or reprimand anyone. Nor should any of the others be. I'm here to try and keep it a nice place.

Maybe you think we're failing and that we suck or w/e ... but I come here because I like coming here. I moderate here so that I can try and keep it a nice place to be.

That's how I see it.

honestly a few spam topics left often for a day or some junk threads that sink off the front-page... wont hurt anyone

It sounds like you're actually trying to make a point. Throw it in the new mod thread OH made to get some of the D&ST members...wait, fuck, I just thought through that and realized all of the serious D&ST members are mods now. Game over.

Also, you're talking into a well. Members have no say. I am yet to see a change from the feature request thread implemented.

I recall posting something along those lines, somewhere. Dealing with "personal attacks" in such a close-knit community can end up being a little ridiculous.

I agree on cleaning up some of the blatant spam threads, maybe the derailment too if it is unwarranted, but if the main subject is going nowhere we should at least shift gears to a minor subject that somewhat pertains to the OP's post.
