No duh, Skype works on any iPhone. But you can't use the webcam at the moment (unless Skype has pushed out an update that I've not seen in my various tech blogs).

I sometimes think that the only reason AT&T really still exists and hasn't gone under or been bought up has been because of the sales of the iPhone and the contracts that come with it padding their balance sheets. That being said, I am so glad I am in Austria and not the USA for my data plan. I pay €10 a month for 1GB of data and I don't even come anywhere near using that up and I use my phone A LOT. For €15/month I could have 5GB, but even that is relatively pointless since I don't tether my device and there's always a wifi hot spot nearby (one thing that does confuse me - if you're living in a metropolitan area, how are you going over your data limits? Just tap into a hot spot).
Here in denmark you can't use hotspots without a subscription...

Anti-terror & crime law requires providers to log and be able to track all traffic back to the user in case the police need to do so...
which means that the only significant hotspot provider is the biggest tele and internet provider in DK, they charge a monthly fee and then you can use all their hotspots as you wish...

I don't live in a major city so it's useless to me...

Well that sucks - but for most people there're hotspots everywhere.

At home, work, pubs, bars, restaurants, airports, hotels, stations - they are everywhere you go.

far from that kind of coverage here...

Maybe because any private provider is responsible for all activity on his/her wifi, meaning if anyone uses it for illegal purposes the owner is responsible...

I believe the focus is on 3G and 3G+ here...

apple a few years ago : "think different"

apple when iphone 4 came out: " hold different" . and apple says that EVERY phone ( AND I MEAN EVERY PHONE) looses reception when you grip it from the side like a normal cell phone. Ok , i tried that with my Droid Incredible, called my mom, dad and parents and no loss of reception. Apples solution is to buy a $30.00 USD rubber ring to put around the phone.

apple is thinking about an iphone 4 recall : http://uktodaynews.com/6476/iphone-4-re … on-issues/

recall for the iphone 4 is coming soon. its darn good i switched back to verizon.

It will come (Skype video calls through the iPhone). When app makers create apps, they are allowed to use any part of the phone, i.e; the camera.

You're as dumb as the Daily Mail. http://kea.nu/27a It's a fake Twitter account that the Daily Mail took for real even though it is obviously a fake. http://kea.nu/27b More on that story.

I am beginning to become annoyed with 4.0 on my 3G.  It is laggy and cause safari to randomly crash.  Suddenly my bookmarks are gone and can not save new ones.  Not so good.

You really, really shouldn't install 4.0 unless you have a 3GS at the very least.

The BB Storm was a joke - fact.

Android OS is a totally different story, use a newer Android newer phone for a bit then post back. I'll wait. Apple makes a good product, I'm not knocking it, but the gap is rapidly closing.

Played with one in o2 shop today. Pretty funky, amazing screen. At first I thought it was just a test model with a picture printed on the 'screen', but it was the real thing. Crystal clear, camera was amazing too.

Turns out it isn't actually that big a deal. The reception is better than existing iPhones.

You do get worse reception when holding the phone in certain ways, but the loss of reception is comparable to other similar smart phones. The thing that makes it seem worse for the iPhone 4 is the fact the signal strength indicator lies to you and they are going to re-design the way that works.

I heard it was dropping calls a lot though, not just the signal bar changing? Is that what Apple PR are telling you? So now it'll have the same problems, just the device won't tell you that it's about to drop the call. Great!

...and while you've all been going through four damn phones in three years, I've been sitting here with my Nokia, not feeling the slightest need for an upgrade.

It feels good not being a slave to this "smartphone" trend.
The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
