Why is that    ? I am a burnout fan to and i must admit i had my doubts about this game at the start. But when you begin playing the game you get hooked by it.

I always used to be a massive burnout fan, but this one just annoys me. For a start I hate the gps/indicator system. If you're going fast half the time it doesnt tell you to take it until you're halfway across the junction! Plus when you have a two roads on one side in a v-shape its impossible to know which one without pausing and looking at the map, which is a killer to the immersion.

Oh and the steering is balls!

Come on bennis, ain't you never played Midnight Club. That's why for the most part I just plan my route before the event. This game's much easier in terms of finding a route as there's only like 6 finishing points across the map so for the most part you can remember the routes to the finish

But yeah sometimes it is hard finding the exact place to turn and do it without ending up taking a shortcut to the wrong direction or wrecking the car

Played midnight club one, it was balls. Played midnight club 2 MP, it was balls.
They should have the gps system like GTA4, it was brilliant.

Yeah they make the point that a major aspect of the game is finding your own route, I hated that at first but eventually you get used to it

Well, I broke down and bought "Big Surf Island" today.  After completing it (which took about 4-5 hours including the new online challenges), here's what I thought:

Pros
- Lots of great areas for stunts, especially the "Mega Jumps," which are enormous
- You get toy versions of the legendary cars, which is cool if you didn't buy any of those DLC's
- More island-circling races (like the ones included in the bike expansion) which are so much fun imo
- The island challenges were pretty cool and gave you an opportunity to see some of the cooler aspects of the island
- The toy P12 88 Special is AMAZING

Cons
- The time limits for races were lowered, the road rage quotas were higher, and the stunt runs required more points, but there is still VERY little challenge to this game.  I think I only had to try one event more than once.
- If you wanted to, you could beat this expansion in less than 3 hours

All in all. if you still play Burnout, I would reccomend the Big Surf Island expansion.  I had fun beating it and I'm looking forward to playing it more.

Yeah I have it too and agree with pretty much all that. The races are better since there is actual structure to them, the stunt runs are as fun as ever and since the island is crazy there's all sorts you can do, the toy Delorean is amazing (a bit too fast tbh. Cripples the fps when running through the city on full floating boost), the Dust Storm is great fun too. The huge jumps and whatnot are great.

Yeah. It's good but I was finished it far far too quickly.

The toy P12 Special though. It's so cool. Like the other toy specials, it's pretty much invincible, and when you do barrel rolls while boosting you leave corkscrewing flame trails. Love it.

I got pissed off with this game afterwards, too much emphasis on jumping around like a cock doing stupid stunts instead of actual racing. I don't know how the series went from being a racing game to a stunting game like that.

Burnout has always been more about the crashes and stunts than straight up racing...

Crashes yes, stunts? No.

Yeah the racing used to be everything in Burnout. Then the crashes slowly but surely took over. It was a shame that the racing was the worst part of Paradise. The new races on the island and in the Bike pack are an improvement but they're still a long way off the old ones.

The worst part of paradise was that they got rid of local multiplayer.

I personally don't see much appeal in this game. I quite like racers and i was told it was awesome so i bought it off steam a while ago.

Did all the bike races with no failures, did some of the car races and it just never got difficult or interesting. Also the license system is just bs gameplay padding. You passed all these races but now that you have a new license you have to pass them again.

Maybe i'm missing something but i just don't see why so many people rave about it

I couldn't quit playing this game for the first 3 months I had my PS3 (was literally the first game I got)... and I hate racing games!
There's so much stuff to do and it's sooooo addicting. I've done literally everything except the all the online challenges (good luck finding people who want to cooperate, especially 7 of them).

that was my main complaint, that everyone you got matched with just drove around doing nothing.

It was the only PS3 game I enjoyed other than MGS4, which had absolutely 0 replay value.

I tend to dislike the "realism" racers, but I've loved open world arcade racers like NFS:U2.

I was a bit disappointed at the lack of local multiplayer, when revenge was so fantastic at it.

It is a must buy though, certainly one of the best racers out there.
