Now what I am interested in knowing is how do you guys feel about drugs & taking drugs. In my job come across the victims of drug abuse, by this I mean both users & people who have been robbed & beaten by people people needing money for drugs. Yet I still manage to keep an open mind on how they affect society as a whole. I have used lots of different drugs from cannabis to cocaine & most of the inbetween as well & found them to be enjoyable as whole but as I have gotten older if feel less inclined to use drugs to the extent that I don't even drink now let alone use any other drugs. This is partly down to the damage from drugs I see to in my work life & just plain growing up as well.

I would like peoples opinions & experiences please on how drugs affect them in their life if at all & how can we tackle the perceived threat from drugs.

They really do skew the figures when they talk about street value. In Australia coke is very expensive at around $300-350 per gram. Even at those prices two tonnes would be worth $700 million tops.

Most of the time they make an estimate of a point or gram on the street, then multiply that by the weight, which is simply inaccurate. Noone trafficking two tonnes of coke is going to sell it in grams, they're going to sell it by the kg, and multiples of. The more hands it goes through the smaller the quantities get and the higher the price is per gram.

The following figures are rough NYC prices, I just did a quick google.

For discussion's sake let's say the initial sale from those with the two tonnes of coke would probably be something like $20k a kilo, probably something like 6kg for $100k and $1m for 70kg (buy in bulk and save, lol). The initial sale would likely be in multiples of a kg to shift the large quantity quickly.

Then it gets down to the per kg from the next dealer in the chain, so about $20k per kg. From there it would be sold on in 100g amounts, probably at $2.5-3k. To buy an 8-ball (3.5g) is between $120-180, depending on quality, and per gram is approx $50.

These are largely guesstimates but really, two tonnes of coke is not worth $1bn by any stretch.

Cocaine hurts you, the people around you, but if you think about it, it helps people too. In columbia, when armed forces call in air strikes on drug cartels, they bomb the cocaine factories, not the plants. why? Because without cocaine harvesting, the peasent population in south american countries dies out completely. So bad as cocaine is, it keeps villagers in south america alive and supporting themselves.
