Funnily enough 2v2 seems more stable than 1v1, had far fewer drops. Currently ranked 4th in our diamond league at 14-5

all blizzard games registered to a blizzard battle.net account are regional... there aren't 3 different versions, it's just US/EU/Asia, probably. mainly for lag reasons and for centralising all of your information and statistics on the relevant website/database. and no you do not have to pay for battle.net... there will undoubtedly be some bonus optionally-purchasable features, i.e. iphone apps/trackers, but the service itself is free if you own the game.
