I'm sure by now many of you have heard the Trentemoller Chronicles (if not, please go listen to it now). Anyways, a great song for a cold dark night (used to stay up late studying to this all the time)

That... explains a lot actually.

Once late at night with the lights out and my window wide open letting the cold air in, I listened to Autechre's "r ess" for probably the second or third time. I was entirely sober, yet felt like I was on a major trip; never had I felt more anxious in my life. I felt like I was about to die. I wanted to turn it off, but felt that I should keep listening as if the exposure to this harshness would somehow build up a defense or something ("what doesn't kill you only makes you stronger" kind of thinking).
Despite sounding terrible, those kinds of moments are really a lot of fun and exhilarating, no matter how down-tempo the music may be, as I'm sure you know.

Wait, I don't have that song on the album? wtf.
nah scratch that.

OT I had a similar mindfuck with that ben frost album uzique recommended before. It was late at night, like 3 AM, was alone at home, all lights off, and just staring out of my window. Bricks were shat. Definitely an awesome experience.

LHB - Tell 'Em Who We Are

It's some upbeat, pop-ish, house-ish music, and though it may sound bad on paper, it's actually a great album. It's an old one that I find myself going back to every now and then and really enjoying it. Here are a few of my favorite songs; listen and see if it's worth the effort downloading it

album of the century my fucking arse

benn jordan is great

great at copying everyone else

hell, he even makes it his own; he is an extremely talented producer. but unimaginative and extremely populist.

he basically listens to what is popular in electronic circles/stylistic trends and then releases his own 3 months later

pale blue dot is most definitely not the album of the century. it aint even the album of the ambient century. there are far better examples.

my earlier Frost recommendation is pretty unique... weird album, though.

yeah you lick my balls, listen to hideously narrow amounts of the genre and then claim that 'x' album is album of the century because 'y' person told you so. you also claim 'x' album is monumental clearly without any knowledge of similar albums, let alone the wider-genre, cause otherwise you'd know that your statement is silly. pale blue dot as a 'top' ambient album is like saying miley cyrus is the pop-princess that defines 21st century mainstream music. it's a good example of a genre, but it's common and unexceptional.

He made no such claims. It was simply a recommendation.

He likes it, other people like it, he recommended it
