Ever since the win in Massachusetts, it seems that the Conservatives have the momentum for the November elections.  Is this enough to take the House or the Senate back?

I think the GOP taking the Senate is a given.  It's very difficult to hold a majority in the Senate when you have the presidency and both Houses.  That's usually the first majority to lose hold of.

Given the massive margin the Democrats have in the House, I think that's less likely to be taken by the GOP, although it's certainly still possible.  What's more likely to happen is that the Democrat margin will be slimmer in the House.

Best way to get good legislation -when neither side is happy.  This carte blanche shit has to stop.

I think that just increases the possibility that nothing will get done at all.

Sometimes that's what needs to happen.  Nothing.  As imperfect they are, they like anyone else hate looking bad.  When nothing is accomplished they look bad.  Compromises will be made.  Extremism is out and a balance may be achieved.

That is the best possible outcome. When nothing gets done, the government isn't expanding itself.

May be we will get a govt shutdown like we did with Clinton and Gingrich.

Democracies only work with checks and balances and you only get that with minority govts... its funy that Canada and Britain both have minority govts. IMO its the only time we get good, or at least somewhat better, govt. What the US needs is a good solid third party in congress to make congress really work well. The way it is now Congress is really just a pissing contest until election season and then they change to slinging feces.

It's good that some of the Democrats are being replaced, but what America really needs is a third party.  The Republicans have become the Democratic party of 15 years ago, only with stronger religious affiliations.  The Democrats have become the Socialist worker party of America.  Both parties are so full of corruption it makes me sick.  So, the choice is between bad, or really really bad.  If the Dems maintain power for another term, we're going to start envying Russia.

America is not a Democracy.  It is a Republic.

Actually, it's a democratic republic.  A pure republic would never have referendums.
