Help explain the difference in the political parties

I've always wondered if there was a magic bullet which explained why certain groups leaned one way over the other. Specifically, what policies within the GOP or Dem parties make some of these folks gravitate toward their party of choice.

Any ideas?

For instance, why are the jewish folks usually democrats? What policies?

I have a few ideas, and of course, some of the answers are that hard to come by. But why the difference in party by sex? race? religion?

The differences:
Women more likely to be democrat
Black & Hispanic more likely to be democrat
65+ older more likely to be democrat
Lower education levels more likely to be democrat
Higher income levels more likely to be republican

Sure, there's some easy answers. I'm looking for the harder ones.

Because groups tend to vote for parties whose policies are most likely to help them. Thus, since republicans tend to put in place laws that fuck over the poor while sucking off the rich, the latter are much more likely to vote for them than the former. Seem reasonable?

wealthy white people more likely to be republican, everyone else likely to be democrat

actually both parties put forth policies that filter money to the top. Some are less abashed than others though.

But I think the OP is looking for specific policies. "people vote for parties whose policies are most likely to help them" should be abridged to read "people vote for parties whose policies they think are most likely to help them." But then, that statement is a DUH! that doesn't really need to be said, does it?

Policies and laws, not ideology.

Aka, if "fuck the poor" and "feed the rich" is the goal, what policies and laws support that?

According the the sample, most people over 65 years old support the democratic party. But that's after amassing wealth. Why the flip then? What law/policy?

I think you are chasing after something that doesn't exist. I really don't think the majority of people vote based on policy. Certainly if a major bill comes up retooling Medicare you might see a shift in 65+ demographics during the period the bill is debated and voted on but I don't think that causes a serious shift in support for one party or the other.

Honestly, the political parties really don't have too much to do with who's in them. That's why you see lots of words like FISCAL Democrat and blah blah.

It has to do with who's hiring. Many people will run with a party to win, even though they really don't have an affiliation with them. I know lots of Democrats who do volunteer work with the republican party and vice versa.

This is why no party actually preforms the way it's suppose to. We should have less debt and less taxation with Reps them with Dems, but when was the last time that happened?

Business tax cuts. Higher ups in business tend to vote republican on free trade issues. Celebs are rich, not wealthy.

Edit: It all comes down to how and how much tax money is spent/collected.
