And when you follow the FIM and can't solve the problem what do you do? You alter parts? Or do you report the issue, and get a response on what to do next? Because if you do any more then that, you better be more then a mechanic.
If you had said, we troubleshoot and repair systems, you would not be showing how little you know. You didn't say that. I did.

Mechanics in manufacturing companies install systems as well as troubleshoot and repair them. You also obviously have no idea what it takes to troubleshoot a system in order to find the faults, especially those that do not present itself readily.

Mechanics will ask other more experienced mechanics for help in solving problems, might even have to go back to the manufacture for a solution. A lot of times the manufacture will issue bulletins about known issues with a fix for them.

One thing is for sure, none of us has ever called a fuckin lawyer for a parts supplier to troubleshoot an aircraft.
Your right I used differant wording. Still had the same meaning. You better believe lawyers were involved way before you came along to do your job. You know why? COSTS.
All in all, your a mechanic. Thats not an insult. Its a good job, with good pay and benefits. You probably make more then me. It is just a statement showing YOUR LIMITED EXPERIANCE. It was only stated to show you knew fuck all about what I was speaking of. COSTS.
If I am wrong, argue the fact. But, to assume mechanics know ALL the ins and outs in the industry is akin to saying Pep Boy's knows how GM/Ford/Chrysler operates.

If you're making any mods you'd better be an engineer.
No if you designed any mods, you had better be an engineer. Machinists make the parts, the mechanics build the system and intall it on the aircraft, then they test it, if it does not work as the engineer says it should, they designed a fix, we implement the fix, if it works great, if not then the whole process starts over again. ALLL BEFORE the system is installed on the frontline aircraft and the soldiers see it or work with it.

Many times even after that, problems arise that have to be taken back to engineering for a solution many time that solution incorprotates mechanics suggestions. If this happens the company that manufacured the system will supply the parts and the mechanics to modify the system again, since it is under a warranty.

Now, this is a very simplified discription. I am not talking about the politics, or back room drug deals or whatever else goes on during the process of getting a system to the troops.

Fine, the decisions are taken by an engineer, thats the thing.

I'm not saying good manufacturing and technical guys aren't important - often they have a much better understanding of practice than the engineers - but there is no skill or qualification which is outside the capability of someone in the military to learn.

So you DO install parts others design, mechanics ASSEMBLE systems and install the per instructions. You provide feedback ("sometimes" with suggestions), you the wait for new instructions, and do it again. Tell me again where I was wrong in my description of your job. Even if you have to make it less "simplified". If you can't then please show how I know fuck all about aeronautics. Considering I described your job pages ago.

I do not take being called a mechanic as an insult, not at all, but for you to assume it is mindless work, and all we do is install bolts. you would be wrong, and THIS is what shows how little you know about aviation.

Yeah if you want to say I have limited expeirence sitting behind a desk signing contracts, fine you win. But do not tell me you think you know more about what it takes to be an aircraft mechanic than an aircraft mechanic.

Mechanic is still a better job than wading through reams of incomprehensible gobbledegook and trying to make something useful out of it.

Wait, thats exactly what mechanics do.

PS I'd be a lot happier if someone connected to an airline didn't keep telling people to die in a fire.

Yeah I do as I please in my daily activities, just as much as you do as you please in yours. Or are you saying there are no procedures you must follow in your line of work? If you follow procedures , does this make your work mindless?  there are few jobs out there where you make up shit as you go along. What is the point in this line of bullshit anyway, when everyone follows procedures including you?

and you are full of shit if you want to make like your comments were not meant as a belittling or insulting. So please do not insult my intelligence any farther by suggesting they were not.

I mean to be insulting by correctly stating your job description?

I work for myself so I do do as I please on a daily basis. Some days I do do mindless mundane work. Some days I play golf with clients. Was not trying to insult you by arguing your job COULD be done by the millitary.

I tried to compliment your career. I am not unfair, but I am realistic. I don't try to read through people. I take their word as their meaning.

I have job interviews on a weekly basis. I have no pension, and debt. My job is not groundbreaking, nor do I know all there is to know about it. I learn every day. There is NO manufacturer to tell me how to do what I do. When I am stuck, "I"have to find a solution, if I can't, then "I" don't have a job. You get stuck, you call for help. My job is inherantly harder then yours (in certain aspects[not trying to belittle{I could go on and on about the great career choice you have made, give you my word there}]), yet the millitary still finds a way to employ thousands of people that do the exact same thing I do. They could do it in your field as well.

Stated that earlier, was immediatly called an asshat.

As for the OP: If they succeed in catching a criminal act by a cop, they are in fact catching a criminal. Just because they see potential for abuse, and this is the only way they can think of to stop it, you call them idiots. Maybe, you could come up with an alternative method.

Most of us are not followed around being filmed in case we fuck up. No one I know would like it or put up with it, I doubt it is something you would endorse for yourself. Cops shouldn't be expected to put up with it either.

As far as not being filmed, quite of few jobs do entail being filmed. Any time I am in a courtroom their is audio recordings, police are already filmed in their line. Bye themselves. They film almost everything, from simple traffic stops, to interrogations, to raids. Even your job is recorded in detail, no? You keep a "record"? ANY public servant should accept the fact there should be COMPLETE transparency in their job.
