I've never EVER been asked for ID on street in Australia, or ever, ever met anyone who has, and I've got quite a lot of friends from o/s or have lineage that's non anglo-saxon/celtic/european. bullshit, a cop called to a scene is going to interview those at the scene, to dermain if a crime has been committed. Stop acting as if the Aussie police have no authority over the citizens, and that they are not allowed to investigate or check the ID of people they suspect might be relevent to his investigation.
