So a handful of links with allegations loosely implying that "tea partiers" were involved, but nothing that proved any violence occurred at any Tea Party rallies (the John Lewis one--which is 404, btw--was disproven quite soundly).

But there's one hell of a smear campaign going on trying to make it look like they're a bunch of racist whackjobs who are bent on trying to intimidate everyone who doesn't agree with their point of view...
it must be the higher than average racists and whackjobs in the tea party than the rest of society
Wrong. That would be the media portrayal of the tea party(ies), not the actual demographics.
im sure all those racist whackjobs are just plants by the vast liberal media conspiracy machine.

Not any more than the whackjobs at left-leaning protests during the Bush administration were plants by the vast right wing conspiracy.

he should be charged with treason. Fighting for an enemy at war with the US is exactly what he did. It is treason. Notice how mainstream media is not calling this what it is......Islamic terrorism, just like the ft hood fucker....but nehhh, it is all paranoia.

You're right.  Without a doubt this was an act of islamic terrorism.  I found it sad the NY mayor earlier stated it probably someone upset over healthcare.  That statement was reckless, divisive and incendiary.  A mayor of such a city should know better.  He just showed his true colors.
What is it with D's these days?

That said, the wannabe bomber is still an American citizen.  He was read his rights and should be affored due process.  But yea, try his ass for treason and execute him.

Apparently it was linked to Pakistani Taliban
http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/8670973.stm
The US has evidence the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attempted car bombing in New York's Times Square, Attorney General Eric Holder says.

Mr Holder said the militants helped to facilitate the plot, and "probably helped finance it".

US officials had previously rejected claims by the group that it was behind the 1 May plot.

A Pakistani-born US citizen has been charged with the attempted bombing in New York's tourist quarter a week ago.

Faisal Shazhad, 30, from Bridgeport, Connecticut, has co-operated with investigators, and admits receiving bomb-making training in the Pakistani region of Waziristan, prosecutors have said.

"We've now developed evidence that shows that the Pakistani Taliban was behind the attack," Mr Holder said on ABC television's Sunday current affairs talk show "This Week".

"We know that they helped facilitate it. We know that they probably helped finance it, and that [Shahzad] was working at their direction."

Mr Holder said there was nothing to suggest the government of Pakistan was aware of the plot.

He also said the Obama administration was satisfied for now with the level of co-operation it was receiving from Islamabad into the investigation of the attempted bombing.

His words were echoed by White House counter-terrorism adviser John Brennan, who told CNN: "It looks like he was working on behalf of the TTP, the Pakistani Taliban. This group is closely allied with al-Qaeda. This is something that we're taking very seriously."

If proved true, this would be the first time the Pakistani Taleban has been linked to a terror plot in the United States itself, the BBC's Madeleine Morris in Washington reports.
So whats the plan now, invade Pakistan? Have fun with that.
I may be alone in this view but I'm thinking this whole war of terror thing has not been masterfully planned.

I don't think the Pakistanis are taking on the TTP at the behest of the US, considering the TTP are all about internal-to-Pakistan issues. And the TTP attacked India not too long ago in the hopes of destabilizing the India-Pakistan situation to pull Pakistan's attention away from the tribal region.

The situation WRT the TTP has nothing to do with the US and everything to do with Pakistan.

Agreed.  The war on terror is in my opinion effectually the same as the war on drugs.  Its going to last forever, its going to cost us trillions, we are not going to become any safer.  If anything, we are creating more legitimate blowback for further "terrorist" operations against us and our troops.
