The great thing about America is fascism is so far away from our life that people identify the Bush and Obama administration with it.

Fascism is an extreme manifestation of traditional conservative/neoconservative principles, so it's not very surprising to see the similarities with the Bush Administration.
that's the tragic thing. right-wing pundits and political commentators exaggerate and sensationalize every little scrap of news and paint an extremely skewed and unrepresentative picture of the political spectrum; the mudslinging and exchange of extreme words such as 'communist' and 'fascist' is not a celebration of the brilliantly egalitarian, centrist and democratic state that you have created: it's a symptom of your political borders being hemmed in to a partisan system that relishes its own narrowmindedness and constraints.Flaming_Maniac wrote:

I know what facism is, what the definition is and that Obama is far from being one ... the political system you have don't allow facism to grow ... a facist does NOT have the best interest of the people in mind and believe it or not but that's Obamas agenda ... even though many Americans have difficulty seing just that ...lowing wrote:

BY definition of fascism.......do you agree Obama's action qualifies as fascist? govt. controll over private industry, salary caps for private citizens,
The stiffling of opossing view points, ( not yet but a very real possiblity with this administration and congress.
I used to criticize Bush a lot when he was in office, but I never used the typical "Bush = Hitler" arguments. Nowadays, it seems that people are trying to do the same with Obama.
Obama isn't controlling any private industries anymore than what our stock holdings allow. For example, the only major company that the government has bought a controlling interest in is GM, but that's largely because the Canadian government bought a large chunk of it as well. Naturally, we needed to buy more in order to have more leverage.
Salary caps aren't fascism anymore than the FCC's censorship of media is.

same difference as saying that maoist china wasnt communist, it was state-socialist to be honest...
to all effect, doctrines and ideology aside, the system at the receiving end was pretty much fascism. he assumed complete dictatorial power of all branches of government/military and silenced all opposition - including dissent within his own ranks. economy, industry and trade were all textbook fascism, as well.
mussolini was a true fascist from the offset, yeah. true failure, too.

The North Korean 'govt' has survived over a remarkable period of time, so has Cuba's, thats the point.

To say the Bush administration entwined religion and state/had rampant sexism/fraudulent elections/controlling mass media etc. just indicates your complete lack of rational thought, the void of your head filled completely by partisan propaganda.
Not to defend idiotic sensationalism, but it's a measure of what a care-free life we live, with so few tests of our individual rights that even relatively small ones that each infringement seems like fascists knocking at the door.Uzique wrote:

Obama does not have the peoples best interest in mind. He has the peoples dependency on govt. in mind. and no, that is not in the best interests of the people.
