Or, you can do it the easy way and just go to a server that is Knife/Pistol only.

Even if you keep jumping you will still get shot and killed. If you sneak up behind someone like who is prone, or a sniper, then a knife kill is pretty easy. i got my basic/vet on karkand. wasnt hard especially when a majority of them spawn kill in the alley..thank godness for the three random spawn pts at the hotel where u could sneak up frm behind them! *evil laugh*

Everyone keeps suggesting Karkand for the knife badge but I got both my knife and pistol badge on Mashtuur City.
There's quite a few good spots on that map that will let you ambush your prey.
Also, I find it hard to get into the fray (not to mention to get up close and personal) on Karkand since the arty and grenade festival is very prominent.
So, have a stroll around Mashtuur City and look around and I'm sure you'll see what I mean.

The knife badge is hard but you will get it eventually, just keep trying. I think that I had over 100 knife kills before I got my basic badge. The best advise that I can give is to make sure that you are always looking at the UAV scan and take note of what direction the enemy is looking in so that you can sneak up behind them. In Karkand, don't go right for the Hotel, go around to the next point and then come from behind.
