Most companies here pay their employees by salary, talking about over head staff. It is also legal.

Now what about the opposite view.
My boss is so incompetent that I'm in the beginning of starting my own business.

For his lack of proper management, I have to come in on week ends, night, early, stayed late and what not.

It's put back on me that one day I've missed work because my son go arrested by police while I continously give more than 10% in over time.
He will always owes me but I will never owe him. But his commentary is that is not enough.

When I was hired I got a signature bonus!!! Now when I talk I'm not listened to!?!

I'm selling my time to you for a given salary and on an understood time base period (40hrs per week) when we are hired.
Now if you find this insufficient, maybe your set-up is wrong. (Workflow or proper / improper instructions given)

It's all your fault if you are not able to have your business go the way you want.
Do you work with the strength of your employees or with their weeknesses?

Stupid poeple are running businesses and some are employed by businesses. We cannot generalise the entire society here.

Honestly ATG I don't see why you can't just fire the idiots and replace them with people who are actually willing to work. There are a LOT un/underemployed people.

Every Whole Foods I've been to has pretty good customer service. Employees are usually helpful and friendly. Why? Because Whole Foods can kick your ass to the curb at any time, the only thing keeping them from doing that is being a good worker. And the decent pay (for a pretty simple job) and benefits for even part-timers are also good at keeping quality workers.

Do you guys understand that people working at a retail place like whole foods can be stupid as a rock and still function? What's the training on the, 30 mins?

One reason they can kick your ass to the curb is because it is a job with little to no skill requirements.

It takes me 2-5 years to train somebody. After that amount of investment it is generally a disaster when they quit or start being cunts.

If I had a company that needed workers as smart as monkeys I could have a more brutal policy. But I don't run a shitty food store, I provide a trade craft, and as such the employees usually have you by the balls.

That is why I am changing the nature of my business. I don't want employees.

Then the important step is to hire properly. The steeper the learning curve the more important it is. Do you know their "Initiative potential" before you hire your subordinates? Having someone with a lower capacity but with a higher determination will prove better on long run IMHO. What you coach/train those guys is more like a craftsmen work. Cabinet making, plumbing, metal folding, printing industry are some of them.

The hockey game is about to start. Since I want to start myself a little shop, I will try to pick your brain later on how to start and avoid shit. But no trade secret to be revealed though.

This is one of the ways that being a commission based employee is good but we deal with alot of salaried people who take food off of my table. The fucking work place sucks, those who need to eat are always cut out by those who are guaranteed to eat.

Also not really 100% sure what you do ATG, but 2-5 years of training seems like a lot and maybe you shouldn't be hireing from the short bus.
