Oh, I think it's pretty obvious to most around these parts what's going on here.

The point being is the negative labeling of entire culture and/or religion based upon the actions of a very minor extremist group is racist.
Saying Muslims are terrorists is like saying Catholics are pedophiles because a few priests (note: very few, in relative terms) molested some children. That would not only be incorrect, it would be derogatory. The similie applies in this instance.

Re: Thread Topic -- Clearly, these people took great offence and culturally this may be considered acceptable in some parts. I'm not suggesting threatening the makers of South Park for creating an episode not to their liking is condonable, far from it because my personal view is that reaction is completely ridiculous and portrays Muslim culture in a very negative light, which justifies the narrow minded beliefs some people like to hold dear (some of which expressed in this thread here).

In a nutshell, all I'm simply saying is you can't look at the worst parts of a society and use that to justify your bigotry and then expect everyone to agree with you. And if people express differences of opinion, well quite frankly abusing them just makes you look more than a little ridiculous.

Anyway, that's my 2 cents. Take it or leave it as you please.

Islamophobia is being prejudiced towards Muslims/Islam. Islam pissing you off = being prejudiced towards it.

Phobia and prejudice are not synonymous.

As a suffix it does not mean exactly the same as it does alone.

The definition is from dictionary.com, I think they get it from Princeton.edu


Much like homophobia is not a fear of gays, Islamophobia is not a fear of Muslims (necessarily - they could also be used to mean fear of gays and Muslims/Islam respectively, but are not restricted to that).

Above is the OED definition of homophobia, yet again, fear is not any sort of prerequisite for being a homophobe.

Never EVER said Muslims are terrorists.....but it is undeniable the vast majority of terrorists are Muslims....Do not blame me for noticing.

I can also say that based on how Islam is practiced in most Islamic countries, ( not by the terrorists) it is one fucked up back asswards, bullshit, intolerant, oppressive way of life that, when practiced as it is meant by muhammad, does not mesh with western society.

How's that? I think a person form Finland can very well contribute to the discussion with how he perceives Islam in his country. There is E.g. an active Muslim community in my home town, and at no point have I seen them as a threat to "our way of life" or whatever.
