lately my 2000 dodge stratus has been sqeeking in the front end. the sqeek happens when i turn the wheel left/right slightly and it is a constant same sounding sqeek similar to a bed spring. also happens sometimes when taking off/completing a stop and the car 'settles'. its not a belt sqeek.

maybe one of the mice ate the bird and is now thirsty and thus making noises to attract your attention

is the noise rhythmic or random?

That car McPherson strut? Possibly the bearing for the strut mount?

If you held a steady turn would it keep going, or is it only happening as your turning the wheel?

neither. i can make it happen when i move my wheel side to side (maybe a quarter turn to each side) and sometimes it happens when i come to a 'jolt' stop

so its not brakes because it does it with the wheel movement even when im rolling forward.

and i know its not a belt squeak, its a spring sounding squeak. like the suspension or something.

so, you hear the noise when you work the steering wheel while the car isn't moving? how about when it is moving?

lower ball joints
Upper strut bearings
lower control arm bushings
inner tie rod ends
outer tie rod ends
torsion bar bushings
I've even heard CVs make some strange noises.
