I don't remember the exact number but I seem to recall him saying that there are 30 million people living in Canada and something like 300 million guns.
http://www.rcmp-grc.gc.ca/cfp-pcaf/fact … ex-eng.htmThis says 7.5 million registered guns with 1.8 licensed people.
lels
using ANYTHING from that giant sack of shit registry is silly at best

So, essentially, urban Canadians view guns in sort of the same way that a lot of Europeans do.
if by that you mean most city people would jump up on a chair screaming while holding their skirt up? yes, yes they do

Isn't it true though that a lot of Canadians own rifles? Is the anti-gun sentiment strictly towards handguns?
Maybe in more rural areas. I dont know a single person who owns one.
you also live in bantario, being seen in your home cleaning a shotgun can result in the swat team kicking your door in
although there is a widespread hatred of handguns due to people instantly associating them with crime. thanks tv, news, and movies, appreciate it

we had low crime to begin with.... which has been declining at the same rate since before the ban happy crowd started signing laws
although our assaults/rapes have skyrocketed since the bans

For those of you here that are Canadian, how do the laws work regarding handguns? Do they differ by city/province?
Also, how do you think Toronto will handle the continuing problem of illegal guns coming from America?
to the second part... that depends if they get rid of their current mayor
as for the first bit
step 1: take non restricted/restricted course
step 2: fill out forms (this includes the references and background check etc.) and send them into the RCMP
step 3: wait for the licence to get to you (this is the most fun part!)
step 4: join a club, because you're not allowed to shoot in a gravel pit with the evil restricted rifles/handguns
step 5: call the CFC and ask them for permission to allow you to take your restricted rifle/handgun to the club you already belong to
step 6: go shooting
step 7: pray nobody ever picks a fight/argument/doesnt like you in general... because you're one phone call away from having your shit seized and a 10 year ban on owning firearms
thats all i can think of right now as i'm a little tired... don't think i missed anything important
things are a little more strict in Ontario and getting stupidly so in Quebec... since in Quebec you can't go shooting alone

Toronto is continually getting better. The police are doing a good job with it, the worst area of Toronto (Jane & Finch) they just built a huge police station. Its really helped crime go down from what I remember. Toronto is actually a really safe place as long as you dont go to one or two neighbourhoods alone at night. 90% of it is perfectly safe.
well it's about time they figured out that more police = less crime
and not more laws = less crime >.<
i use "project safe city" as an example
the vast majority (nearly all) of the "illegal guns" they seized were old hunting rifles and shotguns that were taken from the elderly after their licences lapsed
anyway, thats enough ranting for tonight... i need sleep
