I've just watched a few scenes of the good old movie "Das Boot"(I have the 6 hour long tv-miniseries) and I kinda miss the battleship and submarine action of BF1942 in BF2.

Sure,with the given technology today a nuclear sub could probably destroy the complete Sharqi Peninsula from the North Pole but somehow they completely neglected the naval action in BF2.
For example in BF1942 you could move the carrier,this let to some abuse of course(idiots driving the thing right up to the shore so that it tilts to the side and and planes just skid off of it,stuff like that) but most of the time there was some real strategy behind it,especially on the pacific maps.

Anybody else here who would like to see some moving ships in BF2 and has thought about what to put in the game?

SOme naval themes would be great....   Dunno about moving the carrier around theough......  Maybe the comander could mover it to a certain degree....  Nowhere to put it into great peril......  Would benice to have something a little more substantial than RIB's at least.....  It can be very difficult on Maps like Oman and IronGator to get rid of a pesky APC

Naval action in BF2 is similar to all the planes in BF2142, as in non-existant.

they need to add something like that in at wake island near the landing beach, perhaps a destroyer or better yet, an Iowa class battleship.

It would be nice to have some amphibious tractors instead of just the RIBs. I never saw a RIB used once while on deployments, only LCAC's and AMTRAC's.

Oh well, if RIB's are what's in the game, gotta make do.

BF1942 pacific maps were the pwnzorz.  They were beautiful, fun to play, and of course the US Marines got the M1 garand! 

Invasion of the Phillipines was my personal favorite.  That map was so freakin fun!

As a former squid, I kinda miss the BF1 naval engagements on the previous version. But really, who wants to drive the sub? Believe me its BORING! Still, i suppose crackin the keel of a chinse carrier would be appealing. Sounds like an expansion pack to me. It would be fun, but I would prefer they dont do it at all as opposed to just half assed adding things. Heh, who knows. Besides, I dont know if I could deal with the nerfed cwiz... lol @ any plane takin a hit and being anything more than flying paper...

yea i really miss driving the battle ship and aircraft carreir and it would make wake island far easier for the marines to land on the beaches if the air craft carrier could drive closer

wake island should have had a non-moblie sub w/ RIBs next to it llike in Devils Perch. The sub should be located off of the landing beach, that would make the map perfect. Also on some maps the US carreir should spawn an APC. The comander should be able to send the carrier to a certain spot and it would move on its own. Those are my ideas.

they are putting out a BF1942 mod that will have naval ships
they already have a submarine done

also go to pointofexistence.com
they might add naval vessles and the mod takes place in 2008 with war between the US and Germany against the Ukraine and Russia

I only had a chance to do it once or twice but I kind of enjoyed it.  It felt cool, there aren't many video games like BF2/1942.

I wish we had naval action aswell

i used to always drive the ships, use the destroyer at omaha..even though it was almost immpossible to kill any land targets. it was still fun


the sub i played with sometimes, but rarely



maybe the mod community will kick in next year with something like this

usualy after almost a year u would get atleast 1 full release
the only thing that has come out yet is mini mods
guess the BF2 engine is hard 2 work with

no it just takes a hell of a lot of work and dedication to create 3D models, tweak the physics accurately, check the historical info and more. thats why it takes a loooooooong time to create tweak release and test mods.

Yeah I have to agree. I have just started learning modeling for boring stuff (architectural renders) but doing the stuff really gives me an idea of how hard this stuff can be to produce.

Mate ive been saying this for ages, it would be well good if ships were brought back, no little inflatebale boats i want bigg ass battle ships, subs carriers maybe just one map even but that wud be gr8
