RIP 3870x2
now the question is 4870 or 4890?
i'm happy with 5850, but i haven't bought a videocard before that in like almost three years.
get as much as you can - the 4890, or even 5xxx

i don't want to go over 200. how much was your 5850?
i got a combo from XFX - the vidcard and a PSU for $400, newegg. it was supposed to be for my new build, but i dropped the video into this machine.
so imma guess $300 for the card, $100 for the PSU?

ya that's too much
s'all good, i guess the 4870 will be fine for my needs

ya, you wanna price it out first. i got alot of work to do on my case, so i bought a card that would still be ok then, but i could use now.

afaik the 5770 is the same price and power of a 4870... newer, DX11, HDMI, Tri-monitor compatible, less power (EDIT: as in electricity), less heat, less noise...
what's not to like?

thanks for the heads up, gonna keep a look out
Hey guys, just got a 2nd 750GB HDD.. funnily enough I've never run 2 internal drives before (inorite)... so whats the best setup (in terms of BIOS etc)
Just found a nifty wee program. Takes filenames and you can rename a bunch of them at once. For example, I can change
Family_Guy_-_S02E01_-_Peter_Peter_Caviar_Eater
to
Family Guy - S02E01 - Peter Peter Caviar Eater
Now to change the '_'s to ' 's, that took me maybe 10 seconds. Per file, including time selecting each file... it all ads up. But I can drag and drop them into the batch renamer and it does it all for me in like 10 seconds.
Get it
Family_Guy_-_S02E01_-_Peter_Peter_Caviar_Eater
to
Family Guy - S02E01 - Peter Peter Caviar Eater

This little Java app provides an interface to select which files (episodes) you want to rename. It then finds the episode title from a tv listing website and renames the files based on that.
Well that's a kick in the face

5 points for trying though
How do I use this? .jar? I tried compiling it with JSmooth, but it's confusing me

Unless you want to do a raid0 (where they appear as 1 big drive to windows) or a raid1 (where they appear as 1 drive but both drives contain the same data) you don't need anything but plugging it in...Little BaBy JESUS wrote:

note that running raid0 pretty much fucks you over if one drive dies, where as raid1 saves your ass if the same happens...
Raid1 requires two equally sized drives preferably of the same model...

If I'm going to ever get this, itll probably be within the next couple hours. Seriously considering it, only drawback is the $1k price tag (including taxes/shipping/etc)
