Win7 Themes

So, I'm rockin' the Windows 7 now. Having upgraded changed from XP, the one thing I really don't like is the indefinite edges on windows.

I was one of those nerds running the "Classic" mode in XP, you know:

Right? So I want those sharp edges back. I want SOLID edges back. Can this be done in Win7? Without reverting to, what I think is a really bad, built in version of the classic mode?

Nah, all those do is add a stupid tint to the windows with background images and sound sets.

Right click on your desktop, then on Personalize. If you scroll down near the bottom there should be a Windows Classic theme.

The closest thing you've got built in is:

Window Color, choose Advanced Appearance Settings, and reduce the Border Padding. Looks a bit ghetto when it's set to 0 though, tbqfh.

I can't wait for some good themes to come out for Win7. I don't mind the edges so much, but I do want something that is a LOT smaller than the default. I can't imagine the problem being a lack of people out there wanting to make one, I'm guessing no one knows how to make the "patch" for 7 that you needed for XP to install third party themes?

I'm just waiting for an official manner in which to purge Segoe UI from every part of the operating system, correct the font sizes, and permanently disable ClearType. Windows 7 is a huge disappointment in this regard.

I dont understand the hate of any different looking OS.

Or why so many people seem to want the blandest looking 15 year old UI look.

Ignoring all that, I dont know of anything to do such a thing.

Because "bland" is good for utility. It doesn't distract from anything. You can go all Bauhaus style and that is fine, but when it's not easy on the eyes for the sake of style, that's pretty stupid.

The stupid double line around the windows so they can shove the color of your theme in around the edges WITH the light gradient looks like absolute shit. It is hard to look at. I maximize just about everything so I don't care so much, but if I didn't I understand where he is coming from.

Taskbar --> Properties

As soon as people figure out how to patch 7 for third party themes, we will be inundated with clean themes. For all I know they do exist somewhere else already. There is no reason why the problem can't be solved.

I am more efficient on 7 now than on XP I use at work (in make your eyes bleed mode). And I rarely maximize anything.
