While I technically got my hands on it last week, I got it functional this weekend, my much desired first Pioneer monster, the SX-950! 20kg of pure Japanese awesome!
I've wanted one of these for years, I never thought I'd find one on this island
And all traded for a 17" LCD and some hours of work to get it running again! Just waiting for a new pair of the missing knobs to arrive, and then It's ready to entertain all my senses for years to come!

The idea of any hi-fi system is to reproduce the source material as faithfully as possible, and to deliberately add distortion to everything you hear (due to amplifier deficiencies) because it sounds 'nice' is simply not high fidelity. If that is what you want to hear then there is no problem with that, but by adding so much additional material (by way of harmonics and intermodulation) you have a tailored sound system, not a hi-fi. - Rod Elliot, ESP
