The fighting in Aafghanistan and Iraq has escalated so badly in the last 10 years, that people don't even know if war is actually helping the citizens of those countries. So, seriously, do you think that Aamerica's one time "economic ally" Iran will spark the next war?
Your opinions are much appreciated.
Personally, I think that whatever middle eastern country next starts a war with NATO, NATO will use the war as an excuse to test their equipment in combat situations. I side with NATO, But remember Iraq? That let them test AH-1W's, Apache's, and gave the US a chance to use the F-117's actively.

Possibility we'll see a lightning-fast campaign of systematic destruction of Iran's military and nuclear power facitilities. So that's a war but would probably be a very one sided one.

As for Afghanistan/Iraq style occupations/rebuildings? Not a hope in hell.

It will be a shame too, because take out the hardline government and their supporters and you have one of the most tolerant societies on the planet.

Yes, I too agree that if Iran was attacked by either Nato or torn apart from the inside, the last thing the western powers would do is occupy it for rebuilding purposes. They would probably cripple it, and pull out. But Iran does have some hard hitting, if retired, russian fighters and equipment. And there are those 79 F-14D Tomcats that were sold to the the Shah, before the downfall. If Nato invaded, we'd probably see a disarming and then extensive monitoring.

I think Russia and China have lost patience with the whole ME adventure, they are losing interest in significant sanctions against Iran, can't see them supporting military action.
If the US or Israel did attack it would be both illegal and probably ineffective.

All the BS over Iraq has caused Iran to seek nuclear weapons and made it much harder to deal with them.
