Well, for starters, America would probably have less people and less development of land.  The raw materials harvested by the South fueled the economic productivity of the North.  Without slave labor, less materials would have been transported to the North over the same period of time, and the resources themselves would have cost more.

The Civil War would have likely never happened.

There probably never would have never been a Jim Crow era.

When it comes to race relations, we'd probably have fewer conflicts, but we'd have less transparency regarding racism.  Essentially, race relations would be less talked about and less understood.

Jazz, rap, blues, and soul wouldn't exist.  Rock music would probably be called something different and would sound more like country and folk.  Heavy metal and punk might still exist, but it's hard to say.

The hippie movement of the '60s would probably have been less significant if it had occurred at all.

Affirmative Action would not exist, and so racism in hiring would be harder to perceive and address.

The KKK would have never existed.

The social differences between the North and South would be less prominent, and nationwide, the differences would be more divided along urban and rural lines.

America would likely be more socially liberal on most topics, but it's hard to say where we'd stand on the economic spectrum.

The New Deal would have probably still happened, although managing welfare would probably be easier.

Prisons would be less crowded, and mandatory drug sentencing probably never would have been implemented.

The South would be predominantly white, Native American, and Hispanic.

The West Coast would be predominantly white, Asian, and Hispanic.   Asians, in particular, would probably make up a much larger portion of the West Coast than they currently do.

The Chinese Exclusion Act would probably have never been passed due to a greater need for cheap labor.

well, the US never actually did any (major) slave trading.... it was all those silly Europeans who actually brought people across the pond...

although, they wouldn't have been able to bring anyone if the African warlords didn't sell them any...

There would have been a lot more hatred for light-skinned immigrants.  Maybe we'd have KKK-esque groups that instead focused on krauts, squareheads and micks.

Racism and nationalism used to be more intertwined, and I'm sure people would have found another group to hate.

I don't think Africa itself would be much different, it would have still been colonised and exploited in the way it was, but places in the Americas which relied heavily on slavery wouldn't have been so successful, and maybe to a lesser extent European countries which profited from that.

You have to go far back in history to see the real impact, instead of just focusing/wishing on how there would be no crime or shit like that. You're only showing your true colours when you fail to look at things in any logical/historical or meaningful manner and end up bitching about how awesome things would be without rap music or whatever
