No not France: Israel.
I read the following op-ed article on CNN with some horror this morning, presumably a sop to all of the grief Israel are getting for embarrassing and insulting their one and only true friend in the entire world: the US.

This is the most jaw-droppingly hypocritical, disingenuous, morally repugnant article I've read in quite a while. It was written by an aide to George W. Bush from the American Enterprise institute.
His basic ethos is 'might makes right', and it doesn't matter a tiny little bit about justice or morality. Civilian property rights and the like oddly appear not to factor into this conservatives worldview. The roots of modern day issues and problems apparently have no bearing at all on what is right and proper. He cherry-picks lovely examples of how people just need to deal with their military loss - such as Hungary in WWI. Not a hint of hypotheticals such as what could once have been a Nazi or Soviet dominated Europe. Said same think thank fartknocker probably frothed at the mouth at the thought of taking on the old Russkies in whatever proxy war the west could find throughout the cold war. By his rationale the French resistance in Nazi-occupied France was wrong? Irish resistance to British brutality, exploitation and oppression? Congolese resistance to genocidal Belgians? 'Just suck it up, you lost: the [good/bad] guys were stronger than you, live with it' - is that his ethos?
On his point about Western government reactions: they react because in Europe we feel responsible for the mess. We did after all compel several million Jews to invade the Arab world and drive out niche for itself through force. We put the paperwork through for them, we did kill 6 million of them after all... The Palestinians picked up our tab. 'Thanks, politically and militarily weak patsy ragheads'.
The coup de grace is his hilariously disingenous reference to Yugoslavia. In arguing for 'let the stronger force win, it's for the best' (i.e., Clinton/Biden/Obama should throw principles out the window and bend over for the slimy Netanyahu/Lieberman) he neglects to mention that the strongest force in the conflict - the Serbs - were prevented from committing outright genocide by a Bill Clinton-led NATO offensive. The result today: a relatively stable peace. The man who submitted this article is a fucking retard.
Military and political resistance to injustice should be a vocation for anyone with a shred of dignity, decency or worth.
