Whilst perusing Facebook, I noticed one of my friends joined a group/fan thing for which the general message is one of those lame-ass "Tell here she's beautiful" sort of themes. I understand that a LOT of young people of both genders go through a lot of stress with the "ideal body image" issues in adolescence, but do we really need to sugar coat everything and pretend that we treat everyone the same?

What I was thinking is that while everyone may have their own inner beauty and thus be, to an extent, beautiful; there is a large distinction between that and being attractive (which is subjective anyway). Attraction isn't something we can really control and is just the human animal looking to get its freak on.

Thoughts/comments/rants/treatises?

Yeah, it is pretty lame...  It's kind of like that point that The Incredibles makes when one of the characters is like "if everyone is special, then that gets rid of the significance of being special."

I have hit that junction in my life were I care more about personality and a strong mind but the attraction must be there.  I must be getting old I'm not thinking with my dick anymore....

I think it's the result of the "everyone gets a trophy" society that's been foisted upon us.

Nobody knows how to deal with the reality that life isn't perfect. And it crushes those who haven't been given the tools to deal with it by their parents. So stupid-assed support groups like this spring up to help people deal with the fact that people don't fall in love with their inner beauty right off the bat.

Less wussification of society would lead to fewer support groups and higher unemployment rates for therapists.

Just remember beauty is subjective, other peoples opinions don't matter, men can work hard and get rich, women can learn to breathe through their ears.

Oddly enough I got some great lectures on this sort of shit from a stripper I got friendly with on the weekend. She had some pretty great opinions on stuff.

If only I wasn't so busy staring at her ass at the time I'd be able to give you guys a few quotes.

If being attractive is subjective then everyone can be beautiful to someone else.
And attraction a lot of times isn't exactly about looks, have you never met someone you found ugly but wanted to ravish?
Girls have this happen all the time,we meet some weird guy who looks like Jack Black and for some inexplicable reason we can't rest until we have him.

Please tell me where this so-called subspecies of female resides?

I'm 29 and about 5'6".  I look like I'm 15.  I've been made fun of my entire life for what people perceive me as.  It is what it is.  It works both ways - you have people who have no sense of class or courteousness, people who insult other people because they lack self-esteem, downright assholes (I fall into that category), but you also have people who cannot take a joke or deal with reality.  I'm not one to believe in the whole "wussification of America" thing so much as people want to be accepted, end of.  Our society is becoming tighter - we are relying on and communicating with one another far more than we ever have been - and that social interaction is somewhat reliant on acceptance.

All over the world. I guess we just don't care as much as guys do about looks. And don't bother with the "cause women only car about money" line, too old.

Not sure about the rest of your post. Are you saying no one ever found you attractive? I doubt that.

People are way too hung up on this stuff. Looks is not something I've ever really cared about for myself. I'm not trendy, nor have I ever been.

I've also never had a problem picking up women. It's all about confidence. It really doesn't matter what you look like (as long as you're not a 400 lb 5'2 troll ), it's how you project yourself. If you're interesting and a borderline asshole you're in. Save the nice guy stuff for after you've already reeled her in.

It's actually harder for a 10 to get a date than it is for a 6, 7 or 8. Why? Because people won't approach what they feel is out of their league. The 6, 7 or 8 is a safer bet to accept and also not be a headcase or a bitch

BS 'cause everyone is self conscious about what they look like.

BS 'cause if that it true then the women you date must have half a brain

BS 'cause using numerology shows just how much looks actually play up in your life.
