Four months and I have yet to hear of even a trial. The latest news from a quick search seems to be that they're moving him from the hospital to a jail, and that his defense attorney is playing the religion card and accusing the Army of treating him differently for being muslim, as compared to some pending case for a crime in Fort Lewis. Never mind that this terrorist took FOURTEEN lives and wounded countless more, yeah obviously the Army just hates muslims... fucking scumbag...

So yeah. What's the deal? How much evidence do the lawyers really need to gather to find this guy guilty? And what juror is going to rule for anything other than guilty? This guy's being court-martialed, it's a court of his peers.

I say someone just pulls a Jack Ruby on him while he's being transported to jail. Give whoever does it a nice ribbon or something.

Under this definition seems to me you could easily say he has NOT committed treason.

Is this the first time someone has gone and killed his military comrades, I swear it isn't. Usually it's a court marshall followed by a verdict of like mutiny or... something. I remember hearing that the last time the military killed someone was ages ago.

Dunno about treason though, don't they normally reserve that for civilians. Or when you get military personnel who sell their secrets to like Israel or China they call it espionage rather than treason

not too sure what the topic of debate is regarding treason.

He committed acts, during a time of war no less, that engaged in combat against the US, and supported the enemies of the US. What is the debate?

It's not really a time of war and they're not really enemies of the US, not on a completely official level I don't think. It's abit more complex than that... it's a different situation then a regular war against regular people like WW2 or even Vietnam.
