Compared to FO3, yes they are new. And most people consider this to be a sequel to FO3 (although it's really not).Doctor Strangelove wrote:

I gotta read those articles.
fallout 3 was the first game in the series, if you've ever played a game older than 2004 you're a moron with no taste.Doctor Strangelove wrote:

Also; bring back giant radscorps that are fucking hard to kill and deathclaws that stomp yo fucking face in when you go near them. FO3's beasties are far to easy to kill.
Whoa... Can't believe these forums are still kicking.

The Albino Scorpions are a bitch. Super Mutant Overlords are a bitch. Feral Ghoul Reavers are the ultimate bitch. Also play on Hard/Very Hard.
In the first game, srsly 3 giant radscorps would equal death early in the game if you were unlucky.
Oh and only got the GOTY edition of FO3 at Christmas, just finished fucking about in point lookout. Will get to Anchorage/BoS soon enough.

If you got the GOTY edition, you'll start seeing the overlords/reavers etc.. spawning at around levels 15/16 in some places. At that level they're a bitch, but they're still a bitch at high levels too. The Overlords are slow but powerful and have alot of health. But the Reavers are fast, lots of health, and powerful. And because you only really see ghouls in small dark places like the metro and shit, it's even worse. When you come across one, you'll know how it isFlecco wrote:

You set it through ingame options, IIRC.Flecco wrote:

With Fo3 as you level up, the monsters level up with you, so don't go thinking a Feral Ghoul Reaver you ran away from at level 15 will be any easier to kill at level 25...
Somewhere in the optionsFlecco wrote:

No, it is harder at level 15 than 25. They probably do level up, but they also have lower limits. You're gonna have a much tougher time at 15 than at 25. In the same way that if you spawned a deathclaw as soon as you left the vault you'd be dead straight away. That's why you don't even see certain monsters until you reach higher levels.Finray wrote:

Easiest example is SUper Mutants. Earlier levels it's mainly normals and brutes. Once you reach 15-18 it's brutes and masters, some overlords. Afterwards it's almost always masters. They wouldn't have even had all these different types of the same monsters if they just levelled up with you. It's not really like that at all. Except maybe for scripted moments.

A true sequel in every sense of the word. Everything that made Fallout 3 great, just improved upon and expanded upon.

I thought the point was that it wasn't a sequel.Poseidon wrote:

Storyline wise, no. It doesn't continue the story of the Lone Wanderer... but it's a sequel in the Fallout Series.
I don't really see any expanded upon or improved upon from the screenshots, which isn't surprising seeing as they're screenshots.
I do however see that they have done virtually nothing graphically to it yet, also not surprising.

The companion menu is a new one, plus the new special moves you can do in the VATS system.Miggle wrote:

It was good that they did Fallout 3 in the east, may not have been canon to the lone wanderer but it was canon to the story as a whole.
A few new images.
Fucking hell I can't wait for this.
What the duck is going on at the powerplant in pic 3?
