See for me Nas drops off dramatically after 'Illmatic'. <--That album is easily a top 5, all his other work doesn't even break the top 10. Illmatic will forever be his most noteworthy and critically best work.

Also, you missed MC Serch as one of the producers on Illmatic.

listen to it was written again. extremely underrated, i love that album almost as much as i love illmatic. God's son was a solid album too.
He set the bar so high with illmatic, that people wrote the other albums off before actually taking them in.

I like a few Doom songs, like...Monkey Suite, but the rest just sound terrible.

Edit: What Wreck said reminded me...: I fucking hate 'tards who only listen to music they "identify with".
I'm a white kid from the suburbs, but I still blast Onyx, Mobb Deep, Boot Camp posse, etc. There's no way I identify with their stuff. It's just good music.

i dont 'identify' with any hip-hop.

i like doom cause he's good to chill/skate to and aesop rock is just fun to listen to sometimes with the weird shit he says and does with words

it makes a change from more conventional hip-hop; not saying it's profound or more intelligent or more 'underground' or anything. just simply more interesting because of the style and sound. i dont really care about the 'image' or stereotypical fanbase of any of them, im from rural england. doesn't really affect or apply to me.

i dont think doom is lazy, that's a dumb critique. it's clearly a style and something metred by him. his lack of punctuality and timing is an idiosyncratic part of his 'act' and flow. and yes, it is different. thus why i listen to it and like to chill to it. nuff said, really. stop being a little whiteboy elitist over the black man's music.
