"The Palestinian militant group Hamas said Friday that one of its senior officials was murdered in a Dubai hotel room last week. Hamas accused Israel of the killing and vowed to retaliate."

"The official, Mahmoud al-Mabhouh, 50, lived in Syria and was a founder of Hamas’s military wing, which has carried out hundreds of deadly attacks against Israel since the 1980s, Hamas officials said. Informed Israeli experts said he was also a liaison between Hamas and Iran for weapons smuggling operations into Gaza. He had survived several previous assassination attempts, relatives said, including one three months ago that left him in a coma for 24 hours."

"Mr. Mabhouh is said to have organized the capture and killing of two Israeli soldiers during a Palestinian uprising in the 1980s. He was imprisoned several times by Israel."

Never said Hamas was 'innocent', although it IS a political movement and hard to see how a movement could be 'innocent', but whatever. All I'm saying is Israel are cunts for assassinating people extra-judicially. Whether they're hamas members or whatever. It's just murder, performed by an 'enlightened, democratic' state. About the only good thing they did here was do it an a hotel room rather than with an airstrike, which is what they normally use, killing plenty of other people.


Of course, it might not be the israelis. but they're still cunts for all the other murders they've performed.

Yes, I am aware that Palestinians are not Israelis. I mentioned Israeli-Palestinians, although I should have been clearer perhps that is who I was referring to, i.e. residents of Israel who are Palestinian by ethnicity. Used as workers, living in Israel, and nominally Israeli citizens and not given rights equal to Israeli Jews while their homes are beinh encroached upon by Israeli settlements. Those guys, you know them? So, since they're not given equal rights then ISrael is not a truly democratic country imo.

As for Hamas' 'war crimes and human rights abuses', I'm not ignoring them, any more than I'm ignoring Israel's war crimes and human rights abuses, including the aforementioned condition of Israeli-Palestines and the aforementioned extra-judicial killings/assassinations/murders, call them what you will. The fact is that assassinating a leader of Hamas will do bugger all to help the situation of anyone in Israel or Palestine, since  at the very least there'll be plenty of willing recruits ready to avenge the latest murder, won't there?

Oh, and regarding your other question, if I remember correctly Hamas came to power on the back of, er, 'free and democratic' elections, i.e. they were chosen on a mandate from the people of Palestine. What a shame that their aims don't coincide with those of Israel and the US, but hey, that's democracy for you.
