How can anyone take this douchebag seriously, and, how can people ignore what he says but criticize other people that say pretty much the same thing?

he's in the entertainment business. there are no more 'political pundits' from the classic definition - limbaugh, beck, olbermann, and matthews (right and left) have found a way to monetize themselves. they could be talking about anything, they've just decided that politics was easier, since few Americans question politics anymore.

That was a stretch.  Granted Beck is whiny moron, however he actually has the countries best interests in mind -unlike the Oberleader.  I find it disturbing that Fact checking and vetting is left to him and widly ignored by the media (Van Jones).

They are all whiny morons.  Listening to them for fun/enjoyment is one thing.  Regurgitating what they say as your ideological platform is a fucking joke.

The last election cycle was the greatest thing to happen to me politically.  I have largely become apolitical in regards to American politics.  There is so much bullshit and misunderstanding regarding government and politics on so many levels that it's not even worth thinking about.  For all the shit slinging, finger-pointing and promises being made, you can still break it down to the chorus of a Wu-Tang song - Cash Rules Everything Around Me.  The fact that most people either willingly ignore this in their diatribes against ____(insert political platform/politician/ideology) or pass it off as a minor hiccup in the cardiopulmonary system that is the social contract is equally as laughable as repeating the sentiments of blowhards like Rush, Olbermann et al.  I don't necessarily blame the political commentators - no, I blame the people with brains so dense that the only thing that permeates into their consciousness is the bile these infotainers spit out for them to regurgitate like raptors feeding their newborn spawn.

Lets take a look at the political topography of the US over the last 40 or so years - we have religious moral socialists fucking little boys like they were Zeus picking up Ganymede; so-called progressives against big business filling their silk-lined power suits with corporate capital; a lobby industry that has grown exponentially in power and balls; government spending out of control with little to no accountability by us, the general public; government agencies contracting PR companies to convince us (the people they are supposedly serving) that their initiatives are in our best interest; concentrated capital flowing through government on all levels...where does that leave me?  More jaded (and really drunk) than Dophus Raymond in To Kill A Mockingbird.

The smutty underlying theme in all of this seems to be that we as a nation, a community, have largely allowed this to happen right under our noses.  We as a nation are so worried about banal problems, trivialities brought forth by consumerism, arguing about how wrong the 'other side' is (as if we exist on a 2d plane) We have allowed the dirty money and public policy to take the path of least resistance and create a shitstorm unseen since Bodhi disappeared into the Australian surf.  Soon that path of least resistance will mimic the colon of a 30 year-old anal porn queen, and soon that poop chute will be transposed into the bowels of the American public if you don't believe its already happening.  Hey, at least we'll be able to sustain our gluttonous way of life with a colon that can easily pass a bowling ball

This. Of course the reaction to Beck is far more entertaining than anything he writes, says, or does.

he may say he is an entertainer but I would bet a large portion of his listening and viewing public dont see him that way.

He does it in a manner that illustrates why you should not hang on someones every word. Not to try and win votes.

In the sense that she would be perfectly happy staying home, out of politics, like Washington. I believe George Washington though.

I hope fervently that she doesn't. She would guarantee a second term for Obama

truth - that's only if she's nominated though. but considering the number of insane social conservatives there are, i wouldn't be surprised if she did easily

The problem with that is only registered Republicans can vote in the primaries. Us independents get shut out and we're the ones that would be screaming at the far right not to vote for her She could probably carry the primaries among registered Republicans

well i guess that's reasonable. after all it's the party's decision who they nominate.

See but that is part of the problem.  A substancial base of the R's identifies with relegion.  It is a great way to bring out the relegious right conservative votes.  In turn the independants swing left.  Shit, I don't blame em either.

In some states at least. I'm all for open primaries across the board. My card still says [R]. Otherwise, being in Fl, I'd have no voice.
