Modern Warfare 2 makes $1 billion since launch

Activision has announced that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has grossed over $1 billion since its launch back in November.

"Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 has exceeded our expectations and shattered theatrical box office and video game
records," said Robert Kotick, CEO of Activision Blizzard. "There are only a handful of entertainment properties that have ever reached the $1 billion mark, which illustrates the power of the Call of Duty franchise and mass appeal of this game."

In its first five days alone, the game sold an estimated $550 million worldwide, outpacing five-day worldwide theatrical box office gross figures for such films as Avatar, Harry Potter and the Half-Blood Prince and The Dark Night, according to internal Activision estimates and boxofficemojo.com."

The press release comes after ELSPA's confirmation that Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 was the best-selling game of 2009 in the UK followed by FIFA 10 and Wii Sports Resort. Since its launch, the highly anticipated first-person shooter has remained number one for nine consecutive weeks, and is the third biggest game in the UK ever.

The following are the top 20 best-selling games of 2009 in the UK.

------- Thanks to Godfather who let me play Mw2, I found out the game wasnt all that, it was just hyped up, nothing special I think... played single player more than multiplayer.... but yeah WTF didnt know they made that much money on the game that wasnt all that great..... maybe I have high expectations but I dont know Im more of a bf series fan than cod.... cant wait for bfbc...

Yeah I laughed at all that shit and all the xbox 360 kids waiting for a new game to play

Console gamers are so ignorant though... like I remembered when halo 3 came out I was like, "that's it, that's what your shitting your pants over?" And people looked at me like I just gave the pope a mean right hook. Same thing with MW2, people were amazed and thought it was the apex of gaming, I played like 5 mins at my friends house and I'm like fuck this...

The only thing that I'm impressed about with MW2 is the level of balance the maps have... if you ever noticed how every position has the same amount of tactical advantage, or how some spots would be perfect except that sign for that deli perfectly blocks your line of sight?

Other than that its just SOLID graphics, bullshit mele stuff, no servers (for pc) no console commands, no customization and shitty maps

I mean I play the game cause there isn't much out but I'm never excited to play it, its just something to do
