you fixed it then?

how long is your computer switched on for before you run bf2?
does it freeze completely so that you have to press the restart button?

have you changed any components in your computer recently?

i dont know if its fixed.
i have to try it today after work.. but yesterday i had 1 round for 20 minutes without freeze.

my computer run for 5 minutes before i started bf2. after the 3rd or 4th 10-sec-freeze, i get a completly feeze and nothing reacts at the keyinput. so i have to press the restart button.

i changed no components and the cpu- gpu- and case-temperature is constantly.

idle:
cpu: ~45 degrees
gpu: ~40-50 degrees
case: ~30-40 degrees

during bf2:
cpu: ~50-60 degrees
gpu: ~50-60 degrees
case: ~40 degrees

format c:

Thats abit drastic. Try reloading XP before hand. But when you have tried everything else, format c:, 2hours rebuilding your machine, if your properly prepared, (take a screan shot of your hardwaremanager all opened out and get all the drivers on a disk), will save you time in the long run.

You could try removing all your hardware cleaning out the heat sinks and re seating it all again. Blow dont suck baby!!

the temp is abit high, but it should still run. My P4 3.2 runs at 36c constantly, game or no game. Then again I have a cooler on my cpu the size of a comercial jet engine.

hi, does this happen with other games if so then its ur voltage into the computer, if u aint got a fluent power into the computer constantly, just a micron of a flux will freeze it completely or a little if its only bf2 the have a look at your mobo settings for ur graphics card, make sure the memory is set to make and that in windows for the graphics card its turned to nearly all app controlled, as for the power supple the only way to have a true power input is the get a poewr backup with a power regulator that will handle the fluxes and give the pc constant stable power, cause pc's freak out when the power drops by only 0.0002 microns so remember that, easy way to see if u have a power prob as well, does the lights fade every now and then, when appliances are on? if so then its a definent power prob.

hope that helped

Thanks for the tip craig... (karma +1)
i'll look at it. cause my power supply inst really as strong as a nuclear power station (only 300W).
And u're right, it happens while playing Oblivion, too. although i play it with minimal settings.

But, its strange: i played BF2 for over 600 h with no such problems (all the same components). and i played hardcore grafical games like Doom3 or HL2, with no probs. this problem appeared 1-2 weeks ago..

it does sound like an overheating problem. My computer was freezing after about an hour of playing BF2. I narrowed it down to the CPU overheating so applied some silver therma compound to the Heatsink. Now everything runs fine.

Maybe your graphics card has started to over heat slightly and freezing.

if your worring about cpu overheating, the tuniq tower 120 is the BEST HSF availible out there and its only 50 bucks (hey, its good price for the best right?) i use it as well

A 300W PSU isn't much for the hardware you have in that system.  You also have to realize that we are moving into spring and temps are warming up.  A PSU loses the ability to generate power as heat increases.  If you haven't used some compressed air to clean out the PSU, and make sure the fan(s) in the PSU are working, you should do so.

However, I would still recommend a better power supply.  Also, don't go cheap.  The wattage rating isn't everything, and not all PSUs are created equal.  A good Antec supply in the 400W range can be had for <$80 and should take care of your power needs.

Ohh fuck °!°+?!°?+!? damn!!!
I hate this fucking pc... there are more bugs than all ea-games together!!!!
I lokked always at the temperature and there is nothing wrong with it... FUCK!!!
i dont know anymore what to do with this half-running piece-of-SHIT computer!!
i took all no-needed power-eating components out like case-fans or another hd, but again
>>SAME FUCKING PROBLEM!!!!!!!<<
I havent anymore the time and the nerves to try to repair this shit.

I think the best idea is to throw this pc out of the window!!
Thanks for all the hope/tips, but its senselessly

Have you tried using a different power supply, or running your current one on a PSU tester?

Well i wont go on a rant about intel being far supeior as a brand to AMD. Hold back Hold Back....

But i will give you the lo-down.

300w PSUs do not put out 300w. there are exceptions of course. Good Reliable (expensive) brands will put out the advertised Wattage rate. Your 12v rail could be a bit low as well. An underpowered PSU is a total pain in the ass.

Since this problem started acting up recently, it could be failing hardware. Do you have any error logs, or minidumps (recent) that i could inspect?

And do you dabble in P2P stuff? If so, you might want to consider some form of infection.
Try this program here. http://www.ewido.net/en/download/ We use it at work (800 PCs) and it does wonders. Also if you could post a HiJack this log, after the prgram has been run, I could look at that as well. Please Post the hijack this log as an attachment, or PM it to me, as we dont want that to clutter the thread up.

Hope this helps

Also feel free to stop by www.techspot.com and make a question thread. My name is Atk Spade on the boards, and there are alot of nice members who can help you out as well.

glad you fixed it!

I once worked on an intel system with similar issues... but it was WAY random.  could go for 20 minutes or 3 hours sometimes... but would eventually reboot.  No BSOD, just like hitting the reset button.  After several DAYS I had swapped EVERYTHING else out I determined it was either the motherboard or CPU.... but didn't have spares to try.   So happy you found the problem.  I haven't seen a bad ram slot on a desktop motherboard EVER.  I used to see them on laptops all the time, but never on desktops.

glad to hear u fixed it, i was gonna say about ram had a guy come into my tech shop today and he had same prob, it was the flux in power that triggered his mobo mem to seize up, be careflu it dont happen again, if it does then u have a power prob and need to get a power regulator fast, glad i and everyone helped.

peace

Dude, I had quite a similar problem. I could play for 5 seconds, after which my screen would freez for like a quarter of a second. I also asked help on this forum, topic will still be somwhere, got lot's of help but nothing would work. I ended up with a complete re-install of Windows, now it works perfectly again.

Hope it works out easier for you than to re-install Windows and all other programs, because damn, that costs a hell of a lot time!

EDIT: Just read it's all done, congrats m8.
