Concur.  Brown is more of a moderate in my view but he might actually shoot down the health bill.

I thought you lived in NY G@lt?  As if one politician is any better than the other.  Show me one politician involved in the federal government that has shunned the influence and lobbying of concentrated capital.  Ron Paul doesn't count.

It seems like a lot of people actually think politicians are acting in the best interest of their supposed ideologies and not in the best interest of their political careers and pocketbooks.  I think voting "the lesser of two evils" has got us real far as a nation

By the way I think the proposed healthcare bill is a joke.  More political pandering on behalf of health, pharma and insurance lobbies.

Right, and if Brown wins that bill goes down in defeat. We're all better off that way.

No, but why chance it? I am neither Dem nor Republican, to me they both have illogical platforms etc. What I do care about is that one party has sole power right now and that's about the worst thing that can ever happen in a republic.

They won't. It'll take awhile to reconcile the two bills into one that will be brought before the President. The Republicans are just trying to drag it out longer in hopes of Democrats eventually quitting or getting voted out.

But I'm just stating the obvious.

No, where did you get that idea from? Personally I have no problem with my health insurance and really don't want it to be taxed.

Yes I have health insurance. No it's under my parents, if you are over the age of 18 can be covered by your parents insurance as long as you're a full time student, which I am.

I assume the law is the same elsewhere?

uh
Although the tax is to be imposed on insurers, the effects are likely to trickle down to consumers. Insurers or employers might tinker with benefits, for example, by increasing deductibles to reduce premium costs to below the threshold. In addition, more than half of employees with insurance work for companies that "self-insure," meaning the firms pay for their workers' health bills on their own. These employers would be required to pay the excise tax themselves and most analysts, including the CBO, estimate that businesses will respond by redesigning benefits to have lower premiums, higher deductibles and copayments and terminating employer contributions to health and flexible spending accounts. But economists say employers may pass the savings to workers in the form of higher wages.

We're all going to get taxed. The largest piece of the health care bill is a massive expansion of Medicaid. So, Obama gets to keep his campaign promise of no taxes on the middle class and kicks the can down to the state level. Every state in the country is going to have to raise it's taxes if the bill is passed. We're all going to pay for it.

There isn't anything wrong with that. Nobody's said that.

And yeah you are entitled to use it. My dad's office has an awesome health and dental plan that covers me till I'm like 23, as well as tuition assistance up to $12,000 for family members, so yeah shit's so cash.

On another forum I go to, someone brought up something interesting and rather unexpected about Scott Brown...

In June 1982, Brown, then a 22-year-old law student at Boston College, posed for a nude centerfold pictorial in Cosmopolitan, with his hand covering his genitals. He won the magazine's 'America’s Sexiest Man' contest. When it interviewed him, he referred to himself as 'a patriot' and stated that he had political ambitions.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Scott_P._Brown

I know people often say "pics or it didn't happen", but I'll spare you on this one.

The fact that he posed nude for a magazine doesn't have any real relevance to his candidacy in my opinion, but the person who brought this up had an interesting point.  She mentioned that if a female candidate had done this, there would likely be an uproar about it.

It's funny how things work like that, isn't it?
