Not sure if this belonged in Tech or EE but people in this forum are most likely to play 360 games so I decided to put it here.  Move if appropriate.

Razer goes wireless with sound, wired with controller.

Razer's been amongst the top of the gaming peripheral food chain for PC gamers, and now it's dipping itself into the console waters with the introduction of an Xbox 360 controller and headset.

"Just as we did for PC gamers, we are really looking forward to revolutionizing the world of console gaming by creating a controller and gaming headset that gives console gamers the same level of quality, precision and accuracy that they know and expect in our PC products," said Robert Krakoff, president, Razer USA. "This is a great opportunity for us to continue to give gamers the competitive edge by really listening and responding to their needs."

The controller is called the Onza and has the trick of allowing gamers to vary the tension required to tilt the analog stick. Razer has also added a multi-function button (MFB) that can be mapped to act as one of the action buttons, the analog stick buttons or an auto-fire button by using a sliding selector switch on the bottom of the controller.

Don't expect to be using this controller wirelessly, as Razer has given this one a USB plug-in for "Virtually Lag Free Gameplay."

Pricing for the Onza will be US $49.99 and Europe €44.99.

For those of you who do late night gaming and don’t want to wake others, you might want to turn to the Chimaera headset, which Razer boasts has a 5.1 Channel Virtual Surround Sound system. Razer also says that the circumaural design of the headset allows for optimum noise isolation for long-hours of comfortable gameplay without any outside interruptions.

Pricing for the Chimaera headset is US $129.99 and Europe €109.99.

even the wireless 360 controllers are practically lag, which i commend microsoft on.  no need for a razer product.

There's no need for it, but it's still pretty cool bringing that custom feel to your 360.  But I agree, there is never any noticeable input lag on any 360 peripherals, let alone to the point where you would need it to be wired.  I think maybe what happened is all the extra button electronics and whatever else Razer is putting in probably get in the way of the battery pack/wireless radio or put too much load on the battery to be practical but that seems less likely.

The other thing I just remembered about wired controllers is that they're all you need to play with the 360 controller on the PC, so this may just as well be a PC 360 controller, lol.  Makes a lot more use for the extra buttons if it sees the 360 controller as a joystick.

white primer + black spray paint + clear spray on coat + 30 minutes a day for a week = custom feel

My only gripes with the 360 controller is that the directional pad is awful and the space between the top and bottom trigger is too big. Basically its only redeeming feature is the fact that the stick placement is nice. I never understood why people liked the 360 controller so much. The abyx buttons also don't feel very nice when you're repeatedly pressing them (like, say, when you're playing a game)

I think it probably depends on hand size, 360 seems better for larger hands, PS3 better for smaller hands.  Wiimote for no hands cuz the Wii sucks imo

This is kinda unnecessary. First off, the wired only option. When you're gaming on an XBox, you've got about 200ms ping, changing the controller response from 2ms to 1ms isn't going to change anything.

Secondly, it's exactly the same. The only differences I can see are the added shoulder buttons, which will have trouble being compatible in games, and will just be uncomfortable.

Third; price. $50 is €35, not €45. Perhaps they're upping the price for delivery, although I wouldn't be surprised if they added another €10 on top of that for that reason.

Fourth, there is no comparison to precision with sticks compared to a mouse. Why not work on a solution for getting a fully compatible keyboard/mouse option, or something like that rehashed Wii-second remote + mouse thing.

Just a waste of money in my opinion. But then again it is for XBox, so you already have money to burn.

idk what internet you have lol, but ive played plenty of PC games with pings of 100 - and i play xbl happily all the time, and the lag is nowhere near as noticible.

agreeing with haffey, theres shit all lag using wireless controllers, and wireless is much easier. plus the weight inc a batterypack feels far more balanced than usb controllers.

No recharging is a pretty nice thing to have.

I would get one if I had an xbox.

Looks like a lazily redesigned 360 controller. Razer ftl.
