That was 15 years ago, and I have not read anything regarding Catholic outrage or Catholic incitement. SO where is the urgent need for such legislation to protect from it. As the source Cam posted CLEARLY dictates as the major concern regarding this issue. The only religion with such concerns is Islam, and Ireland's new law is being used asa model for the UN's new blasphemy laws. But I guess this is where you are going to tell me the UN sees a need to protect against CHatholic outrage and incitement as well, huh.IG-Calibre wrote:

Because Lowing, you are a fucking asshole that is fact based on the evidence of this thread. You wont listen to what you're being told & shown, yes the cartoon was printed 15 years ago - well fucking done you grasp that fact - not the Danish cartoon again just incase your slow mind is confused. Now where you go on like a fucking cretin is repeating no one took it seriously, or, there was no outrage that you can see. In fact they did take it very seriously, to the point of a lengthy court case & Constitutional reform - a whole process that took 15 years to complete & which HAD FUCKING NOTHING TO DO WITH MUSLIMS or Mary McAleese. or anything for that matter to do with what she might of said selling butter to the Saudi's.. UN cannot pass or even suggest reso's that can infringe upon sovereignty. Why the fuck do you think nothing is being done about Sudan?lowing wrote:

Anyway, UN anti-blasphemy laws? What an absurd notion.
UN Human Rights Committee passed a reso regarding "blasphemous comments." It was just a bunch of pissed of Arab nations supporting it. Though it did get passed in the end and obviously not legally binding.Bertster7 wrote:

The outrage I speak of is from the masses, not some dipshit trying to make a name for himself, not unlike the people that challenge the pledge of allegiance and "in god we trust". There is not outrage, there are only people that are looking for their 15 minutes. Again, NO OUTRAGE or INCITEMENT form the masses. Yet the link Camronpoe posted speaks directly to these 2 concerns, and 15 years later. Why? is my question, when it was not an issue concerning the masses that demanded attention 10, or even 14 years ago. But here it is now, when everyone else is trying to pass this type of legislation, has it become popular again.IG-Calibre wrote:

You also refuse to address the post as a whole. Where was the violent outrage and the incitement over this? Couldn't have been so bad if it took 15 obscure years to do anything about it.

Sure can, ignoring UN bullshit is not the issue. UN mentality is the issue, and they are following Irelands lead.Cybargs wrote:

er... none Lowing, because? as usual you're confusing this with a completely different outrage to a cartoon which had nothing to do with the Irish Situation, but it's understandable as that's the only outrage that seems to register on the LOLowingdar..lowing wrote:

None huh? I see so there was no real fear of outrage and incitement, ya know like the fears of outrage and incitement that Cameronpoe's source was quoted as its main concern.IG-Calibre wrote:

So where exactly, in 2008 did the concern for outrage and incitement come from?
For the last fucking time Lowing - the outrage at the Cartoon in the Independent and the proceeding court case. Now stop running round in circles chasing your tail.. IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH THE DANISH CARTOON or MUSLIMS

I know it didn't happen in 2005, and what it shows was it was not a real concern, issue or priorty until recent, or it would have gotten done.FatherTed wrote:

Lowing I said there are parallels that can be drawn did I not?. Fact is there was still public outrage in Ireland (even if you know fuck all about it and it wasn't necessarily violent in this particular case) - was still enough to provoke a court case, and constitutional reform. Now just because all you can see is Muslim extreme outrage to the Danish cartoon, It still had nothing to do with the Ireland situation, so no I can't be arsed comparing "outrage" because it doesn't matter.lowing wrote:

What you are using is pretty much an insignificant court case, which admittedly know one took seriously or even bothered with, to further your argument of outrage and incitement, when it did not happen.IG-Calibre wrote:

Cam's link spoke directly of fears of outrage and incitement based on bashing a religion, this has never happened in Ireland oe with Christians in modern history, yet her it is legislation that forbids just that. When there has never been such REAL concern for such law. NOW, however, these laws are popping up everywhere and it is DIRECTLY linked to Islamic backlash and fears of incitement.
In your opinion it was an insignificant court case, the Judges ruling was IMPORTANT because it led to constitutional reform. It was heard in the Supreme Court Lowing! Thats how important the case was, 5 Years of legal hearings AND MORE IMPORTANTLY CONSTITUTIONAL REFORM
