BF2S Forums What's your veiw on Grenade Launcher

I agree that the GL can be a hard weapon to master, especially at long distances. I dont really have a problem with people that use it the way it was intended. Like how Whatnot killed those to guys capturing that flag in his screenshot. The thing that pisses me off is when you are trying to take a flag and all of a sudden you have a grenade shot in your face from a guy standing 4 feet away from you.  Thats not the purpose that weapon was designed for. It was designed so you can shoot a grenade long distances and not have to get close the the enemy to use you're gun on him or a hand grenade. The vast majority of BF2 palyers use it the wrong way because the design of the game lets them. If everybody used the grenade launcher the correct way I would not have any problem with it.

it occured to me that those using the "noob tube" are not noobs at all!  the m203 is a powerful weapon and more and more experianced players are starting to use it because it works.  why not take advantage of a good weapon if it is there?

I totally agree with BF2dude and in response to heart attack u have to suck ass to have to waste 3 clips on som1 (and i know you mean other ppl other than yourself, i was not directing the comment at u),obviously they r stupid if they don't try to get closer if they can only see ur foot.  I have picked up an enemy gun before and they only have one clip and i look at the scoreboard and they have no kills and i wonder how they could do that.

i never said it was stupid, but you use the glauncher in practicical situations, except u can shoot through the crane and hit the sniper, u could pistol him from beneath and the bullets will go throuth and kill him and u can clear cps with ur gun but the launcher works too i guess, vehicles r fine targets with ur launcher ,but i wasn't aware u could destroy mines with glaunchers is this possible?

If what atlvolunteer says is true then it should definitly be changed in this way.  If they made it  like the real m203 as atlvolunteer says then i'd be fine with it because i am fine with getting hit long range(atleast i can get away from it) but 5ft away is silly and what really pisses me off is when the GL user kills himself too , when it is perfectly possible for him to switch to his gun or knife my ass.  I don't think any1 should have a problem with making the GL like the real ones, that's a good compromise i think.

That would make it more "realistic" and less abused.  I only use it to clear out places I can't get to or to make someone duck behind cover while I move.

i dont think there is anything wrong with using the GL, it is a valuable weapon. I use it often at a medium range when i would normally use half a clip trying to hit him as he runs away. I also like to use it when someone is in my face dancing around me, it is hard to get a clear shot and so instead i will take out the GL and just aim at his feet, yes it may be a bit cheap, but this is part of the game, next time get out of my face

If something should be fixed it should be the choppers and mig's. A mig can take a direct hit from a Tank and nothing happends same with the choppers. Both got Air to ground missiles and can kill a tank easy with 1 shot or with bombs.

If it was as close to real life as possible your enemy wouldn't even think about using a grenade launcher from 5 meters away as it wouldn't only kill you but it would kill him too.  But it doesn't in the game, the fragmentation from the grenade magically stop traveling about 4-5 meters away from the grenades explotion.  The crappy part is that people abuse this and it makes the game frustrating at times and ruins any realistic feel it had.  The GL is only a problem on the smaller maps where the combat is always very close.  Just again today I turned the corner at the "death hall" in karkand to meet an USMC soldier toting his M203, I was literally within arms reach and he simply jumped backwards shot his 203 into my feet and went on his way unscathed.  I just have a hard time invisualizing someone in real life trying to use the GL as a short range weapon, and i at least want the justification that if hes going to do that he should die too.  But more often than not I don't get that justification and he just goes on to go shoot someone else from 5 feet away with his GL.

Yeah but read thunderpuss's reply Stenzel, no US soldier is going to endanger his friends and himself by using his GL at 5ft away that's just madness.   He makes an excellent point , u'd be dead if u tried that shit in real life not to mention a dumbass ,so they should make it more realistic in this way.  I have no big problem with long range GL usage i just don't like the unrealistic aspect of it.  Not only is the fact that he can go unscratched absured ,but the fact that he can jump over ur head like he is in the olympics with all that heavy gear.
