but not knowing that a blu-ray player can play dvd and cd is just bad-Sh1fty- wrote:
You know what I mean. Just answer this one question for me please: why do you always have to be a smart ass? Can't you just be nice?
DVDs dont play at 720p, I already listed their resolutions earlierloubot wrote:
It is hard for me to say which I like: I have a DVD player (720P) and a Blu-Ray Player (1080P).
DVDs - Standard Definition
NTSC - 720x480
PAL - 720x576
Blu-Ray - High Definition
720p - 1280x720
1080p - 1920x1080
Some DVD players upscale which just forces a higher resolution which isnt actually there. Blu-Rays provide immensely better picture and sound that absolutely blows away DVD quality
It's pretty much the same as asking why do you always have to be stupid-Sh1fty- wrote:

Stupid how? Just because I don't believe everything you do makes me stupid?bennisboy wrote:

It had better be a post where I'm really being serious or you'll look like a retard.

I seriously don't think there is enough room in these text boxes to put all your stupid quotes...-Sh1fty- wrote:

I thought we were talking about Blue-Rays n shit?
Sober enough to know what I'm doing, drunk enough to really enjoy doing it
Where have you been man? This forum has become bash the Brad!
So back on topic, I was thinking of getting a bluray player for my PC. So I can watch them on this instead. The only problem is I'm going to need a larger PC case because I can't fit anything else in there.

I kind of want a Blu-Ray drive for my computer, but I then realised that until I have a job and a decent TV (ie after uni) I'm not going to bother buying BluRay discs.
You sure? Theres not much decoding like whats needed to play a x264 1080p encode. Its just playing the media files straight up, it shouldnt be too much of a task for a semi-modern PCJenspm wrote:
AFAIK, getting Blu-ray to play well at full quality is a hell of a task on a PC... Not only hardware related (HDMI, audio, etc), but also software. I'd much rather go buy a real blu-ray player.. Good luck anyways
Things might have happened since I last tried a year ago or whatever, but I remember that finding a media player that played the disk without any FPS drops was a bitch..Winston_Churchill wrote:

Not all do. The newer ones should. The BluRay laser differs from the one that reads DVDs so a device that is compatible with both standards has to have two lasers.menzo wrote:
blu-ray players also play dvdBurwhale wrote:
It may not be a bad idea to get a PS3 and play both formats anyway.-Sh1fty- wrote:
I just don't think Bluray is that good. Sure it's pretty, but it's still not worth all that extra money, when I have DVDs that are fine and cheaper.
