When I fall while climbing, there is a very short moment you get a little shock, but the feeling when you get caught by the rope and the climbing harness, hanging several meteres above the ground is awesome. I love "sitting" there with nothing but air below me.

Yeah, you're probably right, but I've never had any problems sitting on a bench looking out over that ocean. It's the only place that makes me feel problem free. I lost my real 'safe place' a few months ago.

seriously:

physically: going home is nice, family and old-friends, my little brother is really grounding, too.
escapism in any virtual world is something we can all identify with im sure... any game you've really got into and forgotten the time of day
my ipod (with the all so necessary shure sound-isolating earphones) provide a mobile, on-the-go bubble of privacy and selfness
my shades similarly provide a shut-out-the-world experience, at least socially
oh and it's nice to say your girlfriend is your "safe place" but im way too much of a cynical self-centred bastard to really let that much go security wise and emotions wise to a member of the female species now. fuck dat!

My room is where I spend alot of my time, so physically it's probably that. More specifically probably my bed. The only time I've ever been really down, I got in my bed, and just let it all go. I rely on music when there is shit going on though, and the best thing about that, is as Uzique said, it's portable.
I certainly feel more comfortable when I'm with Jess with shit going on, but I wouldn't say it distracts me completely. But yeh, it makes me ALOT happier.
