I haven't been playing long myself, so I'm not sure about the windsock.
The recon/bombers haven't really been that difficult. You don't come across many anyway. But try to take out the observer/rear gunner first.
I'd love to see a Gotha or HP though.

The windsock issue (as you probably know) doesn't reflect the wind direction. I end up in a recon chase almost every flight for after the primary I hunt out all of the secondaries.
What joystick do you use? I had to recalibrate and adjust the deadzones in my logitech extreme3dpro. It kinda make me want to by trackir 5...
