I was the helper. Since I'm quite experienced in the area (13 years prior at UPS) they were able to actually provide me with my own vehicle. It's more effective than having "a jumper", someone that just rides along to run packages to the door. Volume has picked up, but as of Tuesday it still had not reached peak levels.cpt.fass1 wrote:

OK the jumper is what I'm talking about. Paying someone 10 dollars an hour is probably better then the insurance risks. Seeing as this time those trucks are usually stocked, just saying.
I agree, and at UPS we would call a supervisor if we were going to be delivering in a high crime area after dark to make them ride with us. The area I was in was between million dollar homes and the hood. Literally.

It was theirs, a white virtually unmarked van. I think that is what made me an easier target. I delivered in that area for years prior and was never even approached. I was also driving a big brown truck back then that wasn't even an automatic. Tougher to drive, easy to identify. They were much harder to get away with. The detective told me today that criminals go after those white vans because they are so generic. The next time you go out on the road count the number of white work vans. They are everywhere.
