Sorry, if those beliefs and laws curtail freedoms and is intolerant of others, it counts, and does not belong in western society.
Soooo ... how does those believes and laws curtail your freedoms lowing?
I'm sorry, I didn't  know this was about "ME", I thought we were speaking about culture and society as a whole.

Now, speaking as a culture and society, are you still willing to ask that question?
Speak as yourself ... how does all this curtail your freedoms, you may split the question if you like ...

How does Islam curtail your freedoms?

How does immigration in general curtail your freedoms?

How does the spreading of Muslims all over the world curtail your freedoms?

Do you have less freedom now in comparison to lets say 10, 15 and 20 years ago?

By your refusal to speak on the whole of society I can only assume you already know the answer and it is not in favor of your argument

Speaking for myself however, I believe if gone unchecked, Islam will curtail my freedoms.

immigration does not curtail my freedoms, ILLEGAL immigration does, as does immigrants who come here to exploit rathr than contribute to our society.

I don't give a shit about all "over the world", I don't want it in my country, as apparently Switzerland does not want it in theirs, also the French are now recognizing what is happening and is taking action as well.

Yes, our society has grown to such entitlement and PC that even "Merry Christmas" is being outlawed in our own country.

Well yes it does apply to all, but it was made by christians according to christian "ethics" if you like. In that sense it doesn't cater for all. In the spirit of freedom etc I guess it wouldn't hurt to revise such laws. But anyway I don't even know how it got to this, the discussion was about Switzerland and Islam...

No, you're not. That's the thing. And neither is Greece for example but there still is discrimination against other religions because everyone happens to be Christian.
The key is to be able to make the differentiation between what the people believe and the position of the government and the state.

And on a general note, yes Islam is backwards in many ways. Frankly it's fucked up if you ask me, maybe even more than Christianity. But that has nothing to do with how the state should deal with it. All religions are equal in that respect. So either ban minarets and churches alike or do nothing. Measures against one religion alone are discriminatory in nature and proof of a racist mindset. It will only make things worse in terms of tension between the communities.

Our society is Christian, our govt. is based on Christian values. It allows other religions. Islam, abridges free speech. It goes against established laws. OUR laws.

Tell it to Switzerland not me, if a people of a country do not want something, who says it should be forced upon them. Don't move there if you do not like it.

Extreme circumstances calls for extreme measures, Islam is extreme and so is the action taken against it.

and no, not all relgions are equal, some, more than others, interfere with the individual expression and rights and are intolerant.

1. Never said I didn't express concerns about Islam, but I hardly see it as a threat in general ...

2. Almost 100% of legal immigrants does just that, blend in ... doesn't matter what their origin is ... some cultures use a longer amount of time but eventually they all blend in ...

3. No point, I only refer to the 9+ pages of the topic ...

4. I would have left the sign hanging there tbh ...

1 Really? Then what "concerns" could you have if not a threat to western society?

2. adapt is fine, but in our age of entitlement, speaking the language some how is no longer viewed as a requirment or necessity. We are supposed to add their language to our products and services. that is not blending in, and it certainly is not close to 100%

4. Well apparently it is the offended minority that is expected to get the attention, who cares about the offense given by taking away something like our holiday greetings? A tip of the ice berg compared to the PC agenda that I fear is coming.

I don't give a shit what offends anyone in our country. If you do not like it, do not move here.

The official religion of the US Govt is Secular Humanism.
