The only problem with some of the unlocks is that they are worse than their predecessors. I am still using the first sniper rifle. Although using all the upgrades (2x more ammo, Armor piercing bulets, 12x zoom and M1911 pistol) the new rifles just don't cut it. Granted, I've only unlocked 3, but they're all shit. I wonder what the M95 is like.

Same here. I always find myself going back to the good ole M24. The GOL and the M95 seem to be the only competitors to the M24, by looking at their stats (have only unlocked 2 so far). How close are you to getting the GOL, be interesting to see what that is like too.

I'm on my way to getting the red dot for sniper, you get a crosshair in addition to the red dot sight when equipped, I'll be a close quarters sniper freak once I get it.

I don't remember it being this laggy in the BC1 demo. In fact the game hardly had any lag when it first came out.

Yeah, something like this

CPU: Large, 12 cores
GPU: 8, at least GTX 295
RAM: >9000GB DDR12
3TB of HDD space.

J/k, anything an Xbox can run, a £300 computer will run too.

Not the same game entirely. Not the same developers. So that theory wont work.

My guess is minimum is C2D, recommended is Quad. 8600 or something minimum, recommended 8800GT. RAM 2gb min, 4gb recommended.

Most people here seem to upgrade their monitors and resolution faster than their actual specs, i.e: have little common sense. So Finray is probably spot on for the majority of PC gamers.

I'll need to get a new comp to run this on PC, which I hope to do so I can play with the EU guys again.

There's a lot of bitching from players in the PS3 beta playing on SD (non-HD) TV's, about how hard it is to see certain things.  DICE responded by saying most of their users are now using HD, and the game it is being optimized for that.

I say this for those PC players out there still using non-widescreen monitors (I still have a 19" Trinitron CRT), this may be the game that makes you upgrade.  While usable, widescreen users may get a distinct FOV advantage.

A big flip since BF2...

I remember when I got my PS3 and still had my older SD TV, had to make use of the zoom function a few times.

I was just giving a ballpark figure, and I think you'll find, the computer you listed, Q8600 8800GT, 4GB RAM, would come in at around £300

If the FoV difference is great enough, we'll find a way to get that too, we did it for CoD4

Bad Company 2 PC Beta Pushed to Early Next Year
DICE producer, Gordon Van Dyke made a post on the Battlefield blog talking about the PC version of Battlefield: Bad Company 2. Unfortunately the beta has been delayed from December to early next year to give DICE more time to increase the PC beta capacity.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Hey all,

We wanted to update you, and slow the flood of tweets, on questions surrounding the BFBC2 PC Beta being cancelled. I'll get right to it and say "the BFBC2 PC Beta is not cancelled". Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed. With the huge success of the PS3 Beta we decided to drastically increase the PC Beta's capacity to insure as many people as possible could participate. Unfortunately this meant we had to delay the Beta to very early next year giving us more planning time to make it happen and implement more optimizations.

Here is a recap of the current PC features, and we can now confirm DX11 support with more details to come later!

PC Enhanced Features

  • Up to 32 Players on PC (24 on consoles) - Play with up to 32 players online in the biggest multiplayer Maps in Battlefield. Each with a different tactical and gameplay focus set across a variety of environments.
  • Full DirectX 9, 10 & 11 Support - Immerse yourself in the Battlefield world as Frostbite engine brings tanks, planes, and explosions to vivid life on your PC. The game will fully support Windows XP, Vista, and 7 with new tech that further improves things like lighting and shadows.
  • Enhanced Gameplay - The PC version also includes wide peripheral support like Joysticks for flying, NVDIA 3D Vision, Logitech LCD Keyboards and VoIP Support plus a variety of specific features tailored for PC play.
  • Friend Support - Find your friends online with the new buddy list to see if and who is online so you can quickly join their game.
  • Dedicated Ranked Server - Everyone gets non-stop action with no connection penalties based on some other player's internet. Ranked Server Provider program will give players opportunity to rent their own server(s) located in professional grade datacenters, ability to modify settings like map rotation, create reserved slots for friends or clan members, kick & Ban players, and custom name your ranked server.
  • Clan Support & Private Servers - Independent Clan Tag, and ability to rent servers for hosting and controlling private password protected competitive servers with expanded control over the settings from public ranked servers.
  • PC Squad Play System - Updated from previous Battlefield PC titles now gives control of your squad before heading into combat.

Good news.

I was beginning to wonder if the PC version was just smoke and mirrors.

Don't expect controllable planes, if you've actually used the code I've given you instead of selling it to some desperate freak somewhere in the dark corners of the internets then you'd realise that there's some scripted events of A10's strafing and bombing areas and shit.

How often do the A-10's fly over? Is it random, or is it like a command similar to artillery?

Well it's a scripted event for this map. You get one a minute or so into the game, that flys along the highway, strafes the base, bombs abit and then leaves. Doesn't seem to do any damage to the opposing team (infrastructure only), it's just there for the atmosphere. Then you get some A10's strafing the bridge once you've taken out two crates near the bridge, and there might some other instances, but they're mostly scripted to happen after certain events.

Probably all depends on the map. The Beta doesn't have any proper helicopters or IFV's. Or boats and some other vehicles. All it has is a T90, M1 Abrams, Hummer and an ATV for vehicles, oh and the UAV copter. Infact yeah, the only vehicle the Russians get are some T90's in this map, but that's all they need really

So it's missing most of the vehicles in the game. Or anything big like Artillery and shit.

DICE has reassured the PC community that its plans for a Battlefield: Bad Company 2 beta haven't been binned.

Speaking in an update on the official Battlefield site, DICE's Gordon Van Dyke said the PC beta has simply been delayed until early next year, in order to "drastically increase" capacity.

"We wanted to update you, and slow the flood of tweets, on questions surrounding the BFBC2 PC Beta being canceled," he wrote. "I'll get right to it and say 'the BFBC2 PC Beta is not canceled'.

"Now this all started due to changes made to an earlier blog that removed the PC Beta from the details and the reason for this was the plan changed"

Man, that is probably one of the greatest weapons ever. I use it as sniper and oh my god is it effective. Hide behind a bush, aim at ALPHA or BRAVO and get insta kills. It's so effective but perfectly balanced because you can only use it every 3 minutes and it's a very specific hit point. It's great for getting rid of tanks that are abusing one spot.

I fucking hate the mortars. It's bad enough that half the team are snipers, now all these faggots have ranked up and unlocked the mortar, god fucking damn it, I knew this game was too perfect to be true. There's always something which has to go ahead and make it all fucking lame. Seriously, because there's so many of them, the strikes are near constant. I hope they tone it down. It ruins everything when you're having an awesome firefight but then the place is just barraged by mortars for what seems like an endless amount of time.

This game was fun at the beginning, now that everyone is ranking up and unlocking the shit, it's getting worse and worse. The same shit happened with Killzone 2. It was fun when everyone just had to use regular guns. Then as you rank up, you unlock hover bots and sentry turrets and invisibility cloaks and shit, and all of a sudden it's just crappy chaos and you can't even do anything without just getting shot up by some silly automated feature or unlock

I really wanted to buy this game when it came out, honestly I'm gutted that it looks unlikely that I will now cos I was enjoying it alot in the early days
