BF Blog - Let the Beta begin!
Battlefield: Bad Company 2 Playstation 3 beta is in full swing now. The North American codes are now working, and servers are up and running. If you don't have a key yet, FilePlanet still has some.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

It's here! Starting today, the Battlefield: Bad Company 2 PS3 Beta is going live World Wide. Intense vehicular multiplayer action on the map Arica Harbor awaits participants in possession of a Beta code. Up to 24 players compete to secure valuable crates in the ‘Rush’ game mode as the action moves across a variety of different locations. From an initial vehicle assault on a military outpost the war winds through streets of a deserted town to an intense final fire-fight in an industrial harbor. If you are not yet familiar with the Beta map, make sure to check out the newly released Episode 2 of the Battlefield Moments series, as well as the Beta announcement trailer and the Arica Harbor gameplay video.

During the Beta we will be monitoring servers and back-end, as well as gameplay balancing and tweaks. If you are a Beta participant, please take a moment to help us tune the game by providing your feedback in the forums set up for this.

These are the options at hand:

Combat Studios closed forums
Use your Beta key to log-in to the closed forums

EA Forums
You can also leave your feedback on the EA forums

SONY Beta Central
North American players can also feed back in the forums set up in the SONY Beta central. To access the forums you log in using your SONY log-in information, and you will be entitled to access the Beta central for Battlefield: Bad Company 2 once you have downloaded the Beta build from the Playstation Store.

Do you not yet have a Beta code? Don't worry, there is still a chance to get in. Reserve the game to get access to the Beta, with participating retailers only and while supplies last. Also keep your eyes open for local partnerships and code giveaways. Please note that the codes for the PS3 Beta are region specific, so codes distributed by North American outlets cannot be used for downloading the Beta in Europe and Asia, and vice versa.

Bad Company 2 Hands On - EuroGamer
EuroGamer posted a new hands on article describing their experience with the Bad Company 2 beta.

________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________

Currently titillating PS3 owners with an exclusive multiplayer beta, a whopping four months from release, Battlefield looks set to continue its conquest of the middle ground between Call of Duty's crowd-pleasing mayhem and Operation Flashpoint's brutal realism. Even more than its predecessor, which marked the series' debut on consoles, Bad Company 2 is undeniably part of the PC lineage. This is smart, savage war-gaming, where a cool head and a steady hand are rewarded over grenade-spamming and shooting from the hip.

The beta is virtually identical to the one that heralded the first Bad Company game. Rush is the game mode, and it sets out the game's stall in convincing style. The attacking team must push into enemy territory and destroy two communication arrays. The defenders must stop them. Whenever both arrays are destroyed, the defenders must fall back to the next section of the map. Victory for the attackers comes when there's nowhere left to run, while the defenders benefit from infinite respawns and must whittle down the enemy tickets until they're forced to withdraw. Read the rest...

Kill your self with your own grenade - epic fall.  I have done that a few times.

Or kill yourself to blow a tank with c4.

Maybe it's just me. The youtube graphics looks perfect, but on my screen (LCD monitor Samsung, running HDMI -> DVI port on it) it's all blurry with no smooth edges. Don't know how to fix it.

Probably in cause of the beta than. They want to test gameplay more than gfx which just increase your d\l times greatly.

It looks really fun though, and the realism is a huge plus.

It is a hell of a lot of fun.

One thing I dislike is the blood spatter from a headshot like 200m away. It's like IN YOUR FACE.

Bullet drop is fucking sex with the sniper rifle. You can see the end of the bullet dropping in the distance so you can recalculate your shot, instead of guessing. Fucking awesome. Got 3000 points just from sniping.

for me the graphics are good, running on a 42in screen HDMI , looks a little washed out.  In the options you can adjust the contrast, I have not messed with that yet.
Overall opinion, I want more.

Yeah, I want more. Although the map they chose as the beta is fucking awesome. You can do a bit of everything on that map.

Oh man. This is already getting addictive. With ranks and some pretty sweet unlocks, I can see myself playing this a lot.

You know... I would go as far to say that I would buy this for the console if a PC version didn't come out. It's fucking fantastic.

The destructive battlefield just makes it that much more fun:
I'm usually recon, and I love hiding in some sweet places and sniping wanks. So I find this awesome building that is slightly higher up than everything else and a great view point for sniping... Problem.... The door is closed and there is no other means of entry.

Solution? Switch to C4; throw it at the door; run back a few steps; detonate.... Voila. I just created my own entry into the building. Now I run up the stairs... but wait.... I think to myself... "What if someone runs up and tries to knife me when I'm sniping?".... No worries. Set C4 on stairs, blow them up and I feel that bit safer.

This is just epic.

Game Informer Multiplayer Beta Impressions
Nick Ahrens from Game Informer has posted his impressions of the PS3 Beta.

The new map that I played, Arica Harbor, is a long, kidney shaped stretch of land that has the offensive team pushing down a long hill through a fort, urban city, train wreck and finally the harbor. The map contained tanks, Hummers, the new quads and a UAV in the form of a little helicopter that’s flown by the player. Everything that fit like a glove from the previous title returned with obvious improvements. Everything looks better, controls smoother and has overall more polish to a formula that DICE has been perfecting for years across many titles. Read the rest...

I like how they incorporated little scripted events into the game. Like a minute or so into the beginning of a new game, two A10's scream through the map, fire the cannons at the first base and drop some bombs too I think. Not sure how effective it is in terms of actually doing any damage, but it's a cool addition nonetheless.

I'm pretty sure there's some other moments like that as the match progresses. It adds to the atmosphere.

The gunfire sounds or w/e you call them are really awesome, making the atmosphere that much better.
