In the Canadian military it takes about 6-9 months from sending in the application to going to basic. I am currently on my third month and it fucking sucks waiting.
Well anyway. Good luck and congrats.
what you get on your asvab? my school offered it for free one day, and me and a couple of friends wanted to skip class so we took it and we all got like 90+, i got 87 , one of my friends got 98, but hes going to the air force academy

My application process goes as follows.
January 09 - Sent in application
May 6-8, 09 - Go for Apptitude test/medical/Interview
May to who knows when - wait for phone call that everything including background check went smoothly and get an offer for employment, then get sworn in/sign the dotted line.
Go to BMQ (Basic Military Qualification) end of summer (hopefully)
I wish our process didnt take this long.
Going to MEPS on Thrusday. Have to be at the recruiting center tomorrow at 3:30 so they can take me to my hotel. I'm glad I don't have to take the ASVAB since I did it last year during my senior year. It sucks that I won't go to BCT until March or April though. At least I can get into better shape than I already am.

meps sucks
i was the first person done with my medical shit the first day at about 10:30, i had to wait until 4 for the shuttle to come pick me up to go back to the hotel. i did nothing in between besides sit in the lobby and watch movies
i wasnt able to swear in until the next day and then it took all day for the shit to go through
the food at the hotel is awesome though
scored a 79 on the asvab also

Seems better organised than the UK.
I signed up to the TA - Engineers.
After 6 months they still couldn't find a doctor to give about 20 of us medicals, and apparently had no prospect of doing so, so I gave up.
Turning up every month to sit in a room and do nothing seemed like a waste.
The guys who did go on exercise had to take their own cars because none of the vehicles worked.

Русский военный корабль, иди на хуй!
I remember when I went to MEPS back in '01, they had us do the crab walk in our underwear and I ripped a huge fart in front of like 20 other people and some officers.
No one laughed but me.

I'm leaving for my first stint of basic, (NZDF Territorials, similar to the Home Guard I imagine,) tomorrow. Got all my equipment on Wednesday, it was like Christmas.

Yeah I had a stand in platoon commander from Ausland that used that. He preferred it cause it was much simpler.Ty wrote:

Oh btw if your Army is like ours if you do well on the tests and ranges with the SAW then you have to use that for your section throughout training. Carrying all the extra ammo plus the thing itself. So do shit with the SAW is my advice lawl.
Steyr ftw. Blank rounds ftl.
