The video cuts out for about 10 seconds but it comes back
LAKELAND, Fla. -- A central Florida couple has been charged with starving their infant daughter to death after she was found lifeless in their home.
Polk County Sheriff's Office deputies discovered the 5-month-old girl in the family's Lakeland home after responding to a call of an unresponsive child.
Sheriff Grady Judd says the child weighed just six pounds, and that deputies found more beer than food supplements for the baby in the couple's home.
Deputies believe the child, Chauntasia Gardner, was starved to death.
Five other children in the home were healthy and nourished.
Chauncey Gardner and Tivasha Logan have been charged with murder and aggravated child abuse.
Both are being held without bond.
I think I'll stop watching the news. These stories make me so mad/sad.According to officials, the couple had food stamps and government assistance. Yet deputies found only two ounces of formula in the house, Sheriff Grady Judd said. He added that the parents were not even mixing the formula correctly.
Judd said the act was "nothing other than torture,” describing the baby as “emaciated,” “malnourished” and “skin and bones.”
“We saw what you can’t even imagine,” Judd said. “I doubt if your imagination could capture what our deputies and EMS saw Sunday morning
The Sheriff was asked how the photos would compare to the holocaust (since he is refusing to release them). He said, "As difficult as it is to imagine, worse."
