By accepting government money, the companies are no longer private. Many banks have repaid their bailout money and have been able to break free of government management. If being able to run themselves was more important than having financial stability, then these banks would have made efforts to repay the government already.

If I were you then I would say the banks, after all you wouldn't be in this shit if it weren't for the banks wasting away all their (your) money.

Personally I would want to make sure that the self loving bankers that put the world into this mess were no longer calling the shots and giving themselves massive raises and bonuses each year simply for proving they are the best at screwing their own customers over.

Goverment do what goverments need to do, i still dont get why you have a beef here, obama is 'fixing' problems created by the previous administration. How well he fixes them is yet to be seen.

What should happen in a govt takeover of a failed corporation is what would have happened if it had been allowed to fold.

ie The executives out on the street, no salary, no bonus, no pension, no stock options, any stock held returned at zero value.

Plus, the whole point (in theory) of TARP is to rescue companies deemed "too big to fail" with the idea that they'll be restructured and reorganized so that they don't get into the mess they were in again.

The government and the banks both fucked up.. We were focused on Iraq, when we should have been focused here.. One of our biggest finical institutions was destroyed both in the IT field and in the World Trade.. But instead of job creation and getting our economy back on track, we went on a mission from god..

Dropped the dollar to unnatural lows and created a bubble in the housing market.. Yippie, that busted and now all these asshole are sitting there fighting over whose going to take the pay cut..

Millions of Americans' are unemployed or underemployed(I'd say between welfare, collage kids who can't get jobs, The actual unemployed, and the unemployed that don't count anymore) is probably at about at least 35% of Americans are working or making enough money to survive.

I have seen government expand its payroll during this whole mess.
I see ridiculous pensions for these crooks.
I see cap and tax killing more business.
I see doe eyed doofuss youngsters clapping about healthcare not realizing that it will be mandated that they spend thousands per year that they didn't before.

I see trillion dollar deficits going forward into oblivian.

I would, on the other hand, support the government mandating all healthcare insurance companies be non-profit. I would support the dismantling of he nuclear power grid in support of wind, solar and wave generation, amounst other options. And oil companies should be not for profit.

So basically, I am conflicted, hate everything, and don't know why any more.
