i definitely agree with you about recovery and its importance.
75% carbs 25% protein. give or take.

i use recoverite as a recovery supplement.  sometimes it's hard for me to maintain weight with my exercise routine, and this seems to help (among other things it's helps with). read up; im not the expert.

You can't really get broader at your current state. Just eat whatever amount you can and stay in shape. Such things take time, be patient.

Seems the only one here with sound advice is Zimmer, if you want to gain mass focus on a total body workouts.  And i have just the ticket for gaining mass: Chad Waterbury's Total Body Training.

http://www.tmuscle.com/free_online_arti … y_training

Mr Waterbury is a expert on strength and hypertrophy.  Total body workouts involve using 5-6 compund expercies only, you are not going to use single joint exerices.  The rationale here is you are going to force your body to release waves of body building hormones as you hit major muscles group and slowly you will gain mass.  Don't expect results overnight though, building muscle mass takes time.

Other Chad Waterbury principles:

Normal kids your age just have naturally high metabolisms.  If you are active at all and don't just eat fatty junk food, you will find it difficult to add weight.  I weighed 130-135 pounds, eating as much of whatever I wanted, until I was about 25 and then gained some weight.  At about 30 I gained more.  At 40 I have to be careful what and how much I eat or I could balloon rather easily. I currently run 180 pounds...Oh, and I'm 5' 11"

You need to feed the muscles as soon as you stop your workout, when you still feel them burning, if you don't, all you are doing is hurting them.
Wrong.  You won't lose muscle just because you don't eat right after the workout.  Although, drinking/eating supplements will maximize your workout.

Well, you're body is in a catabolic state after you're done working out. I end my workouts with water/protein to get the most out of my effort.

It's easy to gain worthless weight (fat).

To gain worthwhile weight, try this: http://bodyforlife.com/

No shit. It works. It just takes some dedication on your part...more than a couple of hours a week at the gym. Which, quite frankly, ain't much.

Cigs don't make me wanna snack.

edit: If you wanna gain any weight just eat a lot dude. It's not that hard. If you wanna gain muscle, eat a lot of high-quality foods and lift.

I'm wondering the same.

I've been working out too (3 times a week though), so I have some definition, but I have fuck-all for muscle mass.

..I've been trying to eat as much protein as possible though.
Muscle mass / definition is not a reflection of how much you work out, you're doing the wrong sets/weights if you want muscle mass.

As a rule of thumb, 1-6 reps is purely strength gain, 6-12 is a hybrid of definition and strength, 12+ is simply cardio with some definition.

If you want 'mass' go for 4-8 reps at 75-80% of your max RM.

It really is quite simple when you think about it. When you lift weights, your muscles break down at the microscopic level. Your body has to repair these tears. What's muscle made of? Protein. So eat foods with protein and lift and voila, muscle and strength.

not to sound like a twat but I doubt you're strong with those stats.. two hours of gym a week really isnt much but ok
so you dont care if you gain 4kg of pure fat?
anyway.. yeah, instead of protein-specific shakes buy something like cytogainer, it's one of the best on the market in terms of calories/serving and taste but is quite expensive.
I'm strong enough to defend myself, that's what counts.

strength has nothing to do with it tbh, so anyone is strong enough to defend themselves.
